I’ve been a loyal member of Virgin Active Collingtree Park for a long time, but a 20% price increase on an already expensive membership is very difficult to justify. For a premium gym, the range of equipment is disappointing, especially when other gyms in Northampton offer more equipment for considerably less money. Sadly, loyalty doesn’t seem to count for much anymore. After a ling time as a member, I’ve decided to leave. Simply no longer good value for money.

The club its self is nice enough although can get terribly busy. It seems the way to manage this is to hike loyal customers prices by £60. I've been going for 3 years but looks like this will be my last. Its taking loyal customer for granted and definitely the club is not worth that amount, especially when its over crowded, machines dont work, the air-conditioning is never on low enough and broken, machines frequently broken and the shut the outside pool to save money.

On the whole I like the gym and have been a member pretty much since it was esporta. Decent range of equipment which I feel is up to date. My main gripe is the temperature of the sauna (could be hotter) and the steam room has been and still is rubbish. Hardly ever any steam in there. I’ve mentioned the issues with the sauna and steam room to reception more times than I can remember and nothing ever seems to change. It’s an expensive gym so I’d expect the facilities to be top notch and they just aren’t. Also the drains in the mens showers smell awful quite often. Same in the men’s toilets which are warmer than the sauna!!. Somethings going on with the drains and it needs fixing asap. I love that they provide towels and the club feels more of a health club than a warehouse gym. There are a lot of classes etc that I don’t use so can’t comment. In short I like the gym but spa facilities and showers need some work. Also why is there no direct phone number on the website??

Price increase 20% year on year and it's non negotiable! If you join here, expect to pay 20% more for every year you're a member. And if you don't want to pay, you will simply be told that 'you can leave the club.' The gym itself is fine, nothing fancy or out of this world. The pool is constantly full of children so it's noisy and like a holiday camp on a cheap all inclusive holiday. It's not a relaxed place to spend your time. They do not have any adult only hours - well that are adhered to anyway. The sauna is always overcrowded. They have a good range of classes, but the only aerobic class is Zumba. I like the staff, they are always friendly, PT's are great as are the majority of class instructors. The management are the issue, they are ineffective at dealing with member grievances. When you report something, nothing changes and they tell you they will 'look into it' or 'report it'. We asked when we would be getting for the extortionate price increase, what was our extra 20% paying for? Virgin are yet to reply - it's been a week!

DISCRIMINATED CLUB. despite the fact that gym is very expensive, they didn’t take care of women, who physically are losing 1 week of training in each month because of periods. women here pay the same price and dont have any additional weeks or prolonged memberships.
