Had to have a retest as glasses didn’t work properly. Lo and behold I now need varifocals apparently and despite being told by the optician I wouldn’t have to pay to try them I left the store £90 worse off. I’d like to know why Specsavers don’t recommend their own standard lenses because people apparently don’t get on with them and suggest you have the premium ones. On reflection I feel now that it was all about making a sale and I feel a bit ripped off. It’s a shame because some of the staff are very nice. I’m not confident my new glasses will be right for me and if they are not I will be asking for a refund and go elsewhere, but we’ll see.

The gasses are amazing! Not only do they look good, and they were ready to be collected so quickly but I actually had several severe seizures while wearing them and I fell on my face each time. Yet there is not a mark or a scratch on them anywhere. My face is terribly bruised. But the glasses are good as new. I would seriously recommend. I bought from the Elton John range by the way. Thank you.

Collected my new glasses yesterday and can’t see out the right side. Lady told me this is normal and to wait. Im not an optician, but isn’t the point of glasses to be able to see? Can see perfectly fine out both eyes on my old prescription. Lady before me also said she couldn’t see and basically had to argue till the lady believed her and would let her get seen. I’ll be back on the weekend to see if they can sort, but this will be my last time using Specsavers in Eldon Sq as this is the second time in a row this has happened. Also to add, when I use the branch at Killingworth they always check that my glasses fit correctly etc but none of this took place in Eldon Sq.

I was given prescription following my appointment and said I'd have a look at frames and was told someone would come, after 10 minutes nobody came so I went to pay for my prescription and leave, noticed my prescription card was different to what I was told by optometrist, told a member of staff and was initially told it was correct despite them not being involved in my appt, they went and checked with optometrist who realised had written it wrong. Many people would not have noticed and been at risk of getting wrong prescription glasses. This was worse than last appointment at a different branch where member of staff tripped over a pile of boxes at bottom of stairs blocking a fire exit

The customer service is top notch.. my eye test with OCT scan was done with extreme patience and the expert took her time to answer all my questions calmly and with professionalism. I had a bent frame as my daughter stepped on it, and I was worried that I have to repay for the expensive frame but the front desk person was a hero who fixed it in 10 mins and saved me whole world of troubles. Highly recommend specsavers over any eye clinic in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
