Just had an amazing tour with Becky at David Lloyd and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Becky was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming from start to finish. She took the time to answer all of my questions, explained everything clearly and made me feel really comfortable throughout the tour.
The facilities are fantastic, but Becky’s enthusiasm and professionalism really stood out and made a great impression. Thank you for making the whole experience so enjoyable. I’m excited to get started!
Highly recommend speaking to Becky if you’re considering joining. 😊

A mixed bag review. I like the place and some of its facilities. There’s lots of classes for kids under 10 and lots of fitness classes for adults. The spa is nice when things aren’t broken and take ages to fix. The gym itself isn’t great imo compared to other gyms I’ve been a member of. Very limited in machines which has been asked a few times to look into but nothing done. There’s space for more machines. Dumbbell selection is limited from 20kg to one set each up to 50kg and one machine of each leg exercise is really no good on busy days, there should be at least 2 of the same machine. The food is hit and miss at times. There’s a small soft play for little ones and a small outdoor play area and a football pitch which is good. The staff are really lovely. Family changing rooms are only 4/5 cubicles so again, a nightmare when swimming lessons are on. The car park was a real issue but DL have sorted that out as best they can. I do feel it’s slightly overpriced collectively especially if you want to join the family up which is a shame as there’s folk I know would join but are priced out of it. A plunge outside would be great and has been asked for but to no avail. Outdoor settings are nice and have on a firewall near the outdoor jacuzzi

Disgraceful customer service – inventing unwritten rules to breach their own contract
If you are thinking of joining David Lloyd Edinburgh Shawfair, be warned that they do not honor the contracts they write.
I requested a standard membership suspension under Section 13a of the terms and conditions because I am traveling abroad for two months. According to their own contract, a suspension can ONLY be denied if the club has an active "waiting list."
When I requested it, a sales person called me to verbally refuse, claiming they have a "waiting list" and that new members can't start until late June. However, I checked their live website, and the joining portal was wide open, actively accepting brand-new members with full payments starting from 1st June.
When I pushed back, Member Support admitted in writing that the "waitlist" only applies to prospective members, and they are actively taking on new memberships to replace people leaving. They then invented an unwritten rule, claiming they cannot accommodate pauses for "convenience purposes"—something that is completely made up and explicitly contradicts Section 13a of the signed contract. I am completely fed up with the stressful back-and-forth and am now reporting this matter to Trading Standards Scotland for formal investigation.
They use high-pressure phone calls to confuse members and aggressively protect their sales targets instead of honoring legal consumer contracts. For a "premium" club charging premium prices, their customer service and business ethics are utterly shocking.
Save your money and go somewhere that actually respects its members and its own legal agreements.
