  Virgin Active has been spot on for my weekday workouts. The kit’s well kept, the classes are lively, and the staff are ever so helpful without being overbearing. I usually pop in before work, and it’s made keeping fit feel properly manageable.

  SAVE YOUR MONEY!! Ive had paitience with this place but after 3 years at this gym i am cancelling my gym membership. This place is falling apart. It is not WORTH the money. The gym floor is already small they have classes on the gym floor right in the middle of the busiest times, which means less space to work out and the gym floor becomes overcrowded!!! then there’s no mats to use because their being used in the class it just doesn’t make any sense. It would make sense to have more mats for the people that are not in the class. I recently caught a guy recording me whilst stretching, i reported it at the front desk and all the lady said was “okay” no CONCERN whatsoever she never asked any questions or asked if i was okay. No reassurance to make sure that it doesnt happen again. It was just “okay”. Unacceptable. There’s ALWAYS leaks. They continue classes when theres leaks as you can see in the pictures. Leaks on the gym floor, leaks in the bathrooms.Machines not working ever so often, if you want to take your fitness journey seriously just dont bother. It is soo outdated for the amount you’re paying. The equipment is falling apart, rubber on the weights are falling off and they’re rusty.. It’s just not worth the money. There’s never anyone supervising the gym floor to help newbies with the machines or just to make sure of safety to show that there’s someone close by to help. Everytime i go to the spa area people have their phones taking phone calls etc. when theres signs saying “no phones” but again staff are not supervising!! People are noisy in the spa area having loud conversations and no one is there to say anything.. Considering its a child friendly gym there is SO much nudity in the womens changing room, especially when mothers have their young boys in there, they just dont care they walk around completely nude. Drying their hair completely nude infornt of the mirror, you just dont know where to look there’s just no decency. Maybe it cannot be controlled but it’s just another of my 13th reasons.. The whole place just needs a strip down and start again.

  5 stars to all the staff who are incredibly helpful and friendly but I wanna give a 0 rating for the gym floor, equipment and facilities. Just want to provide some context, 8 years ago I was a virgin active member before I had my child. And this gym I believe was the blueprint for your David Lloyd’s, equinox etc. I hit my PBs at this gym, this gym wanted to make me push myself. fast forward to now, I have decided to take my daughter here mainly for swimming and the childcare provision while I’m working out on the gym floor. Decided to freeze my account with Anytime fitness to do so, and get a head start to this gym. And I cannot believe how dated all the equipment was. The barbell has rusted over and no longer has the grip and has smoothed over. The barbell was no longer silver but rocking a rusted metal colour. The weight plates have chipped and are the same plates that I was using 8 years ago. The stair master says “virgin active Mayfair” which I am convinced is a hand me down from the Mayfair gym so they can get new equipment. I am on the curvier side but why are my arms outside of the stair master railing as they do not between the railing. The bottle holder for the cardio machine is not in easy proximity to grab whilst working out. The weights floors and everything is the same and incredibly out dated. This is not the gym that I remember it to be, and I am incredibly disappointed in the gym floor it doesn’t match the brand. You may as well be paying 1/3 of the membership price at the Gym Group or anytime fitness minus the spa + pool because it’s the only thing saving this gym. Incredibly disappointed and I’ve never been unhappy or upset leaving a gym and believe me I was so disappointed in walking out of that gym. I felt so so demotivated.

  the worst gym in the world, discrimination, unhuman, umprofessional, liars.......and everything on the website is a lies . incident happen 31/05/2026 after a long walk 45 min through arsena supporters we reach our destination, virgin active angel islington (333 Goswell Road, Islington, London, EC1V 7DG), i took my niece 11 years old for swimming as i promise her, and she was so excited and happy after 2 and half hours waiting for the road to reoppen and we can cross toward virgin active. but when we enter the premises, the way we been treated there was so disrespectful and discriminated specially when we informed them that we are not a member of virgin gym, and we only there for swimming only and i dont mind of paying any fee for that. we been told that we cant access the premises at all for swimming and there is noway we can do this only if we should have a membership, and there is no other possibility. then they informed me to get access to swimming pool i should pay a fee of £162/ month and my niece a fee of £30/month, i told them i have a disability as broken L5/S1 and i dont want to access the gym and only want a membership for swimming pool, as i try not to break my niece heart, but they refuse, and my niece was beggin me with eyes watery to do whatever to let her swim and the virgin staff karl was there also, then he went to ask his manager Harriet, but it look like his manager doesnt care, and she refuse to let us access the premises unless we pay full membership which is total of£192. and she informed us that there is no way for a day pass, i left the premises with heart broken and my niece was crying with heart broken and it was too late to take her somewhere else as it was to late. they broke a 11 years old child and made her cry, i think in uk there is nothing call you obligate a customer to purchase a full membership for using the swimming pool one day, and you cannot obligate a disable person to use full membership and you guys know that he cant use gym, this is greedness and unhuman and discrimination. i share this experience to show others how unprofessional and how they are unhuman and they have no respect for child or disable person, as i didnt ask them to let me in for free, but all i want is that my niece to have a day swimming as i promised her, but left with broken heart and crying and she had a worst experience ever that will stack in her mind forever, she is an 11years old girl, and sorry i am a disable person that cant use gym but was happy to pay a day pass fee to get his niece accessing the pool for swimming, i never felt my disablity like it was today, thanks to karl/ and to the manager Harriet
