  1 star but honestly, if I could put minus stars it would be -5. I read the other google reviews before I came here and I was a bit scepticle when reading them wondering, 'how bad could it really be?' The answer is: Absolutely awful! I got here about 5mins ago and am writing this review on one of their iMacs (possibly one of the only good things about this place) before I leave (Yes, I am not even going to use the facilities, it is THAT unappealing) . I received good service, when I arrived the gentleman at reception offered me a towel although when I got upstairs to the changing rooms I wasn't quite sure why, as none of the spa stuff is working and their wet area smells like an old pool. The previous reviews are correct, it looks like nothing is working. There really is cardio machines in the club area (crazy, right?) Generally, the interior of this place is like a transformed pub, I know as I grew up in a pub... it is like a pub that they have not bothered to change the decor for, especially as you go upstairs. Not much is sign posted, I had to ask for directions to the female changing rooms which was on the second floor. When I got to the changing rooms I was looking for the toilets, Saw what I thought looked like cupboards and thought surely they can't be the toilets! After asking the cleaner who took me to the cupboard door... turns out IT IS actually the toilet *shock face*! In Summary, the only way to describe this place without swearing is, DECREPIT! I honestly feel sorry for anybody that has this place as a home club!

  Showers, changing rooms and studios aren't clean. The operations are at the lowest level and so is the level when a problem appears, managers will never find a right solution with a human approach. Everything they interested in is income only. Your expectations from a company like Virgin active will be ruined...

  It is an absolute shame to even call it a Virgin. Constantly sauna or showers don't work

  Facilities are not up to the minimum cleanliness standards that anyone might expect. Showers are filthy and mildewed with cheap plastic curtains. Frosted glass panels are worn through. Jacuzzi rarely works properly and looks like it has not been cleaned out for years. Lockers are always fully in use. Virgin say that they clear them out every day, yet they do not. Used the gym once in the morning and saw that they had allowed what appeared to be some homeless men in there to wash and clean. Admirable public service - but please do not expect me to pay £100 a month for that. Fitness machines are frequently out of service or not working to an acceptable standards. Staff are not at all helpful - no welcome pack, no training assistance, limited English. Very often you do not see any staff at all in the gym, which I think should be illegal.
