  It recently dawned on me that I never left a review for the worst gym experience of my life. A staff member stole my phone from the women's changing room. I was able to follow the location to this (now allegedly fired) employee's house, and filed a police report, but that didn't lead anywhere. The response from management was lukewarm, they never offered any compensation or sympathy, and they tried to convince me that I must have lost it somewhere in the gym instead of taking accountability and treating this like a real incident. They only took it seriously once I confirmed the address of the employee I could see from the pinged location, and then reported that they dismissed her from her role. I never felt safe to attend this gym again, and while I've moved to a new country since, I would still be hesitant to sign up for a Virgin Active gym ever again. There's better chains out there, with much better customer service, empathetic staff, and way less predatory tactics. And higher standard of cleanliness, I should add. If you're looking to join VA, don't.

  Poor value for money. Like the upgrades but often dirty, too busy and experience simply not reflective of the prices they are charging. Just received an email advising of a 35% price increase…yes 35%. Even with a 50% Vitality discount, it’s very poor value so I will be cancelling my membership.

  staff are great they even lend you their airpods when you forget yours …. which is AMAZING SERVICE (despite the earwax) - on a real though this place is 10/10

  Nice gym inside but if you drive you cannot park most the time. Defo not worth the £160 a month might aswell pay more and join David Lloyd.

  Four problems and one pro: Problems: 1) Dirty. Lockers don’t get cleaned so you’re hunting for one that doesn’t have discarded plasters or muddy skids in it. Showers smell really weird often and equipment on the gym can leave your hands black sometimes. 2) Overcrowded. It’s even pretty busy at off peak hours. The gym is obviously specced for a limited capacity because it’s not that big for what it is, but it’s packed out. 3) Not enough equipment. You’ll be constantly shadowed on things like the leg extension machine (there is only 1, there used to be 2). You have to try and avoid any time the lift club is on because the racks are unavailable (class members will routinely claim a rack up to half an hour before it starts as well, even if you’re on it - you’re basically a second-class user of your own gym membership). 4) Expensive. Everything is in the region but the service for the price is hilarious. For this you get entry-level equipment as well. What’s good: 1) The royalty free music is funny.
