Absolutely disappointed with the service today, went in Ilford store for an eye test but was in there for 2 hours. Some of the staff were incompetent and didn’t know what they were talking about which was very annoying on a hot day like today and I had other chores to do. The service has certainly dropped since they moved to the new store. I hope they improve otherwise I will have to consider another optician which is a shame because I’ve always been with Specsavers and their service was very good until now.

My family recently visited Specsavers in Ilford, and we had an excellent experience thanks to Faizan. Faizan was extremely helpful and patient in assisting both me and my son with choosing new glasses. It was my son's first time getting glasses, so we really appreciated the time and care Faizan took to make sure he felt comfortable and found a pair he was happy with. Although my wife didn't need any new reading glasses, Faizan kindly offered to service and thoroughly clean her existing glasses free of charge. This thoughtful gesture made a real difference and showed a genuine commitment to customer care. The whole experience was friendly, professional, and stress-free. We left feeling very well looked after, and I would highly recommend Specsavers Ilford to anyone looking for excellent service. Thank you, Faizan, for making our visit such a positive one!

waiting times are generally good at this branch. Three of my children are joined here, and only 1 time in the last 8 years they did get one of the prescriptions wrong and my child needed to be re-tested. The staff are very friendly here and always greet, help and test with a smile. On 2 occasions the store did not have change in the till for cash payments, so something needs to be sorted there.

Avoid it, otherwise you will regret it. The staff member "Talia" is rude and aggressive. Customer service is worse, and has reached its breaking point. Every time I visited it, I saw new faces there, so the staff there changes quickly. Furthermore, I was given the wrong prescription for my eyesight a few years ago. The standard in this store has become very poor, I wonder how it is still operating. If you are still doubtful, click the "Lowest" rating tab at the top, and you will read horror stories about what takes place in this store. It is not a coincidence that one of the things you will read is that some staff members are rude and there is no management at all. I just read few of those reviews today and I am horrified what local community is facing. Don't fall for the good reviews, most of them appear fake, or not naturally written by clients on their own initiative; and one can understand this by reading them, for example, the way they shower praise. I have been hearing horror stories about this store and people switching to other Opticians, until I myself fell victim again on 29 May 2026. There is a Boots Optician nearby, Vision Express in the Exchange, and other private ones. Better to use one of them. If you do need to use Specsavers, avoid the ILFORD High Street store. On 29 May, I had a worse experience with a female staff member at the reception at this store, who states her name on her badge as "Talia". She is rude, aggressive, and arrogant. I went for an appointment, I was there 10 minutes before my appointment. A staff member at reception asked me if I was checked in, before I could answer Talia appeared and interrupted our conversation. She told something to that staff member without speaking with me. I was guided to wait in an area of the store. I waited there, but I was not called at my appointment time. It was 5 minutes over my appointment time and Talia approached me and said I was told to approach reception at my appointment time, I could have missed my appointment. I told her that she or anyone else did not tell me to approach the reception at my appointment time. Talia started talking about irrelevant things, she went on and on. I tried to explain her a few times, she was not listening at all. She was blaming me for her own shortcomings, for not doing her job properly. Another staff member intervened and apologised to me, but aggression of Talia was not stopping. She was still blaming me for her own fault and would not listen. At the end of the appointment, when I asked a staff member for the store manager, the implied answer was that it would not make any difference, and I wasn't surprised, having heard horror stories about this store. I was guided to Ali, a guy with beared, and told he was the manager. I told him what took place, his body language was louder than his words. It was like, he was impliedly saying there is no point in complaining at this store. It did not take long for me to realise he would do nothing, actually would have a laugh with Talia about my complaint after I leave, as I believe he has done with others' complaints. He did not tell me if he would provide any feedback about my complaint, and I have not received any. But this is to expect too much from this store. After I left the store, a woman approached me and told me she was in the store and heard my interaction with Talia. She told me she had a similar experience with Talia. She told me Talia considers herself clever by talking too much, but in fact, she is arrogant, rude, and unprofessional. She told me she does not have time for complaining, doing so at this store will be a waste of time in any case, and she is going to transfer to Boots Opticians, as many of her friends and others she knows have done. They are using the Specsavers company name, and people go there thinking it is just like another Specsavers store. But it may not last for long with its current state. To this branch franchise owners and the Specsavers brand, what is taking place in this store bothers you at all?
