I visited David Lloyd, Purley today after considering gyms in the area. I had no intention of signing up as I like to ponder when making decisions. James showed me around the club and was very friendly, welcoming, and professional. He explained the facilities clearly without any sales pressure. There was a real sense that he knew the club and members very well which gave a warm feeling. There are a lot of classes to choose from. The spa facilities are comparable to high end spa weekends. James was really helpful and answered all my questions. Thanks to him, I had a really positive first impression of the club and sign up!

We've had such a lovely experience with Alanah! She's been incredibly friendly and helpful, and even though we’d just dropped in, she took the time to give us a tour and answer all our questions. She's been very responsive over email and has helped with all our queries. Thank you so much Alanah ☺️

Tremendous customer service by Tyler in the new members team. He took time to give us a detailed tour and was very knowledgeable about the gym. A very friendly and professional demeanour and took his time and answered all the questions my wife and I had. We didn’t initially intend to join this week but after his tour and of course seeing the gym; it was a no brainer. We also have a 10 month old baby so the crèche and facilities for children was a real selling point. Look no further, join the gym.

Disappointing decision regarding equality of access to spa facilities I've generally enjoyed my membership at David Lloyd Purley and regularly use the gym, swimming pool and spa facilities. However, I'm extremely disappointed by the recent decision to introduce women-only spa sessions on Thursday evenings, effectively excluding male members from facilities they pay equally to access. I fully support creating an inclusive, welcoming and comfortable environment for all members, regardless of sex, gender or background. However, I struggle to understand how restricting access to facilities based on sex promotes equality or inclusivity. As a paying member, I believe everyone should have equal access to the facilities included in their membership. Introducing exclusive access for one group, without offering equivalent opportunities to others, raises legitimate questions about fairness and unequal treatment. My concern is not about opposing initiatives that support women. It is about ensuring that equality, fairness and inclusion apply consistently to everyone. I hope David Lloyd will listen to members' concerns, explain the rationale behind this decision and reconsider an approach that, in my view, undermines the very principles of equality. Inclusivity should bring people together, not create additional barriers based on sex.

Cons : Awfully busy. Difficult to find parking during busy times Saturday mornings are impossible. The building works are taking a long time to complete and snagging issues to resolve (showers flooding). Recovery area is pointless as there is a queue during most peak hours. Only 2 massage beds for the whole massive gym! So not the premium experience we are paying for given the price tag. Pros : lovely classes and a good cafe. It’s a good club if you only want to use during off peak hours.
