James Thompson, the assistant general manager, unresponsive for weeks after he asked us to email him information following a phone call in which he clearly fobbed us off. Despite follow ups, other reviews share similar concerns. 3 weeks later and 2 follow ups, no response. 3 long-term platinum memberships lost due to this behaviour from James. Not even an email saying your request cannot be handled how you initially wished, or that you'll hear back soon, just radio silence. Before this, we were concerned about how david lloyd makes you pay for the full month once you have been regarded as unfit to use the facilities with no refund. It seemed like a money-grab given how much we all pay per month. We weren't super off put by the matter, we just wanted to resolve it and speak to someone. However, this experience, plus reading other reviews, has changed the experience into us seeing how dismissive the management are here. It couldn't be further from the initial treatment we all got when we first joined. Goes to show where the priorities are- unfortunately we won't be rejoining when we are recovered, which we had every intention of doing before the uncaring nature of David Lloyd was exposed to us by James and the other reviews on here. Shame as we are partial to a sauna and outdoor pool.

I’m genuinely disappointed with what this club has become. For the price of membership, the overall standard is nowhere near what I would expect. A lot of the staff are very young, which in itself isn’t an issue, but the lack of professionalism, basic manners and customer service from some staff members is noticeable. There often seems to be an attitude of indifference, as though helping members is an inconvenience rather than part of the job. That said, I actually feel sorry for the staff at times. The bar/café in particular regularly appears severely understaffed, with employees expected to manage an unreasonable workload. That ultimately comes down to management. If young or inexperienced staff are employed, they need proper training, supervision and support rather than being left overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the attitude isn’t limited to staff. Some members can be incredibly rude and entitled, which creates a generally unpleasant atmosphere. The biggest issue for me is that this club seems to prioritise **quantity over quality**. It feels overcrowded, understaffed and poorly managed, while still charging premium prices. There is very little about the overall experience that feels premium anymore. For what membership costs, I simply don’t think it represents good value for money. The club has the potential to be so much better, but standards need to improve significantly — particularly management, staffing levels, training and the overall culture.

I’ve been a member of DL Leeds since 2007, I had a break last year due to ill health but rejoined in April this year. The support on reintroduction has been first class. Pilates classes with Tony Daniel’s and PT sessions with Ally Hughes have been brilliant in getting me back on track. Flexible membership package helps manage the cost. Highly recommended to help you manage your health and fitness.
