Located in a peaceful spot to the north of the city centre, David Lloyd Leeds is far more than just a gym. Within a country-club setting, our unparalleled racquets, gym and spa facilities – plus a friendly social scene as lively as our kids’ club – mean there’s something here for everyone, from early-morning workout to post-match dinner.
Very disappointed with my experience at David Lloyd. I have a membership and was given a guest pass to bring a friend. However, when we arrived, my friend was refused entry. The reason given was related to the hot weather and the quality/capacity of the gym.
As a member who pays a significant amount every month, I found this frustrating and confusing. If guest passes can be restricted under certain conditions, this should be clearly communicated in advance to avoid wasting members’ time.
I expected better customer service and clearer communication. Unfortunately, this experience has left me disappointed.

David Lloyd Leeds is a 'premium' club in name only. It has become a derelict, poorly managed facility that is coasting on a reputation it no longer deserves.
The spa is a joke—the jacuzzi is consistently lukewarm, the steam room is either broken or dangerously erratic, and the constant false "fire" alarms are an embarrassment. The gents' changing rooms are consistently filthy and resemble a neglected school locker room. With overcrowded saunas, pathetic shower timers, and an atmosphere that feels entirely dead, this place is closer to a run-down lido than a luxury health club.
Management here is invisible and clearly incompetent. They are more than happy to collect top-tier membership fees while letting the club rot. The local management team needs to take a trip to David Lloyd Manchester Trafford or York and learn what an actual well-run club looks like, because the contrast is pathetic.
The front-line staff try their best, but they are clearly being failed by the lazy leadership above them. Don't be fooled by the branding; this club has no standards left. It’s an overpriced, neglected mess.

This place is not good value for money. You think you are joining a premium gym set up - after a couple of months you realise it's not sadly. On the plus side, there are some good, well instructed group classes, nice cafe area, and a good range of facilities such as padel/tennis/squash courts/outdoor pool etc - this range is good. However, this is really let down by: The gym equipment in the weights area being badly outdated, rusty and low quality. The air conditioning does not work effectively, which makes it sweltering in summer (no point going on treadmill when it's so hot). The sauna is not heated to its advertised temperature, and no plunge pool is a shame (unlike The Village). Access to the changing rooms is terrible. The men's urinals smell and there are not enough toilets. There are paving stones near the entrance that have been cordoned off for repair for months - I envisage they will be there for several more months before they get round to being repaired. if you ever decide to report these things you quickly realise you are wasting your breath - they don't seem to communicate very well with members or act on feedback.

Extremely Disappointing Customer Service and Communication
I have been extremely disappointed by my experience at David Lloyd Leeds Moortown.
My family holds four Platinum memberships at a cost of approximately £400 per month. Given the significant expense and premium status of the membership, I expected a much higher standard of customer service and communication.
My primary concern has been the complete lack of response to multiple emails regarding membership matters, tennis coaching enquiries, and general customer service issues. On occasions, I even showed copies of these emails to club staff members, yet I still received no meaningful response or follow-up. For a premium health club, I would expect timely, professional, and courteous communication with paying members and their families.
I have also found the application of club policies difficult to reconcile with the level of customer support provided. My 10-year-old son attends the club and, under club policy, requires adult supervision. Although I am responsible for paying for the memberships and transporting family members to and from the club, I am not permitted to enter or wait within the club because I am not personally a member. While this policy is enforced strictly, basic customer enquiries and requests for assistance appear to receive considerably less attention.
During my final discussion with management regarding the cancellation of our memberships, I raised concerns about the repeated lack of responses and poor communication. I was advised that the matter would be investigated and that cancellation would be processed within 48 hours. Unfortunately, I felt the conversation was handled in a dismissive and discourteous manner, leaving me with little confidence that customer concerns are taken seriously.
Court availability has also been a recurring issue, with facilities often fully booked and difficult to access despite the premium membership fees being paid.
This review reflects my personal experience only. Unfortunately, the combination of poor communication, failure to respond to legitimate enquiries, limited court availability, and unsatisfactory customer service has led me to conclude that the club does not provide the level of service one would reasonably expect for the substantial monthly

I’ve been a member at David Lloyd Leeds for a while now and it’s easily one of the best health clubs I’ve used. The gym is well equipped, always clean, and has everything needed whether you’re focused on strength training, conditioning, or general fitness. The spa facilities are excellent too and make recovery after training sessions much easier.
The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming and professional. A special mention to Olly England, who helped me join originally and made the whole process straightforward from the start. He’s always been approachable and happy to help whenever needed.
Overall, a fantastic club with great facilities, great staff, and a really good community feel. Highly recommended.
