- VBVal BennettMay 2, 20262.0I asked when making my appointment if I could use my own frames. Yes, i was told. Have accumulated 6 frames which are in good order. I wanted to use one and have the rest recycled. The appointment testing seemed absolutely fine so, no problem there until i was told there was 'angle closure' and i would be referred for a hospital appoinment. Told nothing to worry about and it could take upto 18 weeks for an appointment. A colleague of the tester enters the room, looks at the test info and says you're being referred for laser. Depending on the hospital visit it could be laser or cataract treatment. SUDDENLY I'M A LITTLE WORRIED. Next I'm taken to choose my new glasses. I'm asked what frames i might choose. I want to use my own i say for both glasses and sun glasses. That will cost you £70 per pair extra I'm told. NO mention of this when I made the appointment. The assistant tells me all the deals on offer which would work out far cheaper than me using my own frames. No, I say. I came wanting to recycle and be environmentally friendly and I'll stay with that. GUESS WHAT, THEY DONT RECYCLE OLD GLASSES. SO, nearly £800 for my glasses and still got the old ones. Oh dear.
