Used this company for years. Yes staff are very friendly and nice. However I made an appointment before my 2 years as was having issues and couldn’t see with my specs. Said I just needed reading glasses. No difference so I paid for an appointment and to my shock my glasses were completely useless. I needed prisim in my lens because my eyes were not working together a simple test picked it up after listening to how I was seeing the world.

Went in with very sore eyes only to be given drops for dry eyes. Made no difference went in again 5 days later only again to be given ointment which I bought and I did not need. My eye was inflamed and needed steroids and should have been referred to an eye specialist instead was fobbed off with buying drops and ointment I didn’t need

This place is just terrible. I had to get my glasses refunded last year as I was experiencing double vision and they still didn't help me after coming back in 3 times. Just kept telling me I didn't have double vision and I just needed over a month to "adjust". I went to Vision Express after the refund and they immediately identified my eye condition at the first appointment using the eye scanner. Clearly, Specsavers don't even bother looking at the scan or checking anything even if you experience odd symptoms. I stupidly decided to try again this year because I loved the frames I had refunded, disclosing my eye condition hoping this would help. Nope - the first time, they typed the perscription in wrong, went back to them to ask them to correct it, they re-made the lenses and forgot to make them anti-glare even though I paid £40 for them! I now have to go back a 3rd time AGAIN this year just to get the right lenses in the right frames. In short, I have had to visit 8 times in 2 years just to get working glasses. Absolute incompitency all round, I feel like I should be entitled to compensation as I was not diagnosed for another few months because I got no help from them last year. Safe to say, I will never be coming here again.

My low rating of this specsavers reflects a total lack of proactive care. I was forced to fight for my own PD number, only to discover I’ve been wearing the wrong measurement for years due to this lack of transparency. Beyond the administrative hurdles, I was 'over-prescribed' without any explanation of my actual eye health or advice on slowing my myopia progression. I felt like a transaction rather than a patient.

I am incredibly disappointed with the service I experienced at this branch. After picking up my new glasses, I found my right eye was completely blurry. I was told to go home and try them for a while before returning. However after wearing them for a good few hours, i had a pounding headache and felt really sick. I returned the next morning only to discover the prescription was written incorrectly (a + was recorded instead of a -). While I completely understand mistakes happen, the way I was treated by the front-of-house staff was unacceptable. One staff member questioned why I hadn't had an eye test in five years in a very condescending tone. Given that the current issue was caused by their own prescription error, this was both irrelevant and rude. Another staff member suggested I should have "tried the glasses for a week" before coming back, despite the fact that the prescription was fundamentally wrong and causing significant strain, making me feel extremely sick! (She said this after being told something was wrong with the prescription, which completely blew my mind?) I was made to wait for an hour for a re-check while looking after my 8-week-old baby. When I asked if there was any way to be seen sooner given the circumstances and the fact that I was returning to fix their mistake, the response was dismissive and sharp. The only saving grace was the optician who performed the re-check; she was the only person who offered an apology. Mistakes in prescriptions are one thing, but being treated with a lack of basic courtesy—especially as a new mother—is another. I expected much better professional standards I’m really upset I was treated this way, and actually quite anxious to go back to pick them up!
