Whitley specsavers 1.15 hr shocking experience The first part checking my eye health etc went fine. My time with the optometrist was crazy. She spoke quite quickly and i found the things she said confusing and at times worrying . Even when i asked her to explain it wasnt that clear. It was a rushed experience, just going through like a check list of things that had to be said. One comment was you dont have 20/20 vision and fall below the required standard for driving so driving without my glasses would be illegal, Firstly im nearly 70 so never expected 20/20 plus i cant see clearly at all without glasses let alone drive. Ive never had the things said to be in any eye test in my entire life. It was a train crash of an experience. Then as i was leaving i was told i needed a peripheral test, it felt last minute.. The chap didn't come across at all experienced and had trouble using and explaining the equipment. It was farcical and after i was told i needed to redo it i nearly walked out. He just couldn’t explain what should be happening. Ive Had them in the past without an issue. I was told to wear a well used eye patch and i could not see any sanitiser which was a worry. I now have something going on with my left eye which feels infected I would not return to this store again, in fact i made an appointment at the Fareham store which was relaxed and very pleasant. Stanley there was a great guy, speaking clearly and calmly. He came across very experienced Thank you. My test results were different at this store than the first. I will never return to Whitley branch again, i only went there as Fareham was fully booked. P.S. Strangely since my visit i developed an eye infection in both eyes so now having to get treatment for that. Ridiculous sharing an eye patch sanitised or not. I was asked to DM you on Fb but you dont have it set up !!!

We took our son, who is 3 years and 8 months old for an eye exam. The specsavers website recommends an eye exam every year and that 3.5 years is a good starting age to get their eyes checked, so we were getting our son checked as per their own recommendations. The store is very nice and the assistants were helpful and wonderful. The person that took the pictures/scans of his eyes was very nice, however the optician seemed reluctant to administer the test and kept saying that he was too young and that the test was not necessary. We should not have had to justify ourselves, he just needed to administer the test, however I did make clear to him that we wanted the test due to our son starting school in a few months. He had said earlier that schools administer their own tests but we were aware that not all schools administer the same level of testing and we just wanted to be sure. However he kept moaning and seemed vindicated when our son turned out to have 20-20 vision. Our reasons were none of his business, the moaning was not welcome, and we were in line with the guidelines on specsavers own website. The tests were adequate but the optician's manner suboptimal.

I didn’t have my eyes tested here, but and they had the best deal on frames and lenses. The Staff were very helpful and my glasses are arrived in good time.I will certainly be going to Specsavers in the future.
