Really great experience here. First time going to Specsavers for glasses as old opticians shut down. Madeline I believe her name was brilliant in explaining everything to me about how it all worked with a different company and I received my glasses promptly.

Just a brilliant, professional experience from start to finish, Amy looked after me and went above and beyond to get the deals that suited me, Jas put me at ease and explained everything he was doing during the testing process

Extremely helpful, welcoming and reassuring staff. I had some in-depth tests and all my questions were answered to a standard that put me at ease. When looking at the wide range of frames and lenses I didn’t feel forced into making a purchase

Eye test 11 March 2026. An hour and a half all told because I was left waiting between two things for 45 minutes. It was ridiculous. Optician was really good, though. Shane took the measurements of my eyes and didn't get a single thing right, which I found out over two weeks later when I got the glasses and I could only see properly by tipping my head back and looking through the bottom of the lenses. I later found out he's worked for Specsavers for ten years and is in his final year studying to be a dispenser. He should not be making mistakes like that. The fact he is, something needs doing about his service. I have health problems and find it difficult to commit to appointments as a result. Because of this, Shane said he'd make sure the glasses would go to him and he'd make a phone call to me to arrange a collection. That never happened. I was chasing the shop. When I went back due to the fault, Jennifer was thorough in getting the right measures. Because I had two pairs, she said re-make one pair in case there's anything still wrong and it won't be two pairs. Fair enough. Thankfully, the pair re-made were correct, so it was on to the second pair. At the time of writing this (29 April 2026) it's been two weeks for the second pair and I still haven't got them. Last week when chasing them up, I was told it'd be another week for them to be ready. Now they're saying it's estimated that they'll leave the factory on 6 May and arrive in the shop on 8 May. That'll make it over three weeks and that's on top of all the mistakes, incompetence and disorganisation that's gone before. It's beyond ridiculous that everything is done by appointment. When collecting, they can just be handed over. Considering you have to have an adjustment period to a new prescription, trying them on for five minutes with an audience isn't going to get you used to them, therefore you, as the wearer of the glasses, won't immediately know. If there's a problem, you can go back, anyway. There needs to be a better way to do this. They won't give the glasses - ultimately, your property - without an appointment, so they are essentially withholding your property from you. The appointments are pointless, anyway. Several times I've been there now and haven't been seen to on time once. And it isn't late by five minutes. The shortest time I've waited is half an hour. Unacceptable. You're lucky if you get a phone call answered. I've made about ten phone calls throughout this debacle and had my call answered three times. When you don't get your call answered, a message says they have your number and they'll phone back. They don't. The way everything has gone for me and the whole operation of the store is incompetent and disorganised. Once I have my glasses - if I ever get them - I will never be going to Specsavers again.
