  Kyron showed me around David Lloyd and I was really impressed with both the facilities and the tour he gave me. He was very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, and took the time to show me everything the club has to offer and answer all my questions. He made me feel really comfortable and gave me such a great first impression of the club that I decided to join. Thank you, Kyron, for such a great experience!

  First things first, the actual gym aswell as the tennis courts are lovely and well maintained. The thing that lets the club down is its sauna and pool area. The male changing rooms are a state, with most of the individual changing rooms doors locks broken, mysterious stains over the doors. The pool area is a joke, with facilities often out of service. You’ll often find people on their phone and vaping indoors to which staff don’t care. Me and my family have literally seen staff walk past whilst people are either taking photos or actively vaping and they don’t care. The sauna is filled with rotten wood and is liable to snapping, the tiles in the sauna often come away from the wall. There is black mold around the edges of the swimming pool alongside broken lights inside the pool itself with exposed cables actually in the pool itself (no doubt disconnected). For the price they ask you to pay, you’re made to wonder where it’s all going if the pool / sauna facilities are being left in such a sorry state. I have conveyed all of my concerns to the David Lloyd team via email numerous times and have either received no response, or a response saying everything is fine. If you are thinking about joining David Lloyd’s Basildon, don’t, go to a Virgin Active instead for most of the same amenities for a much cheaper cost.

  Lovely gym with friendly staff who are always warm and welcoming to everyone who goes there. Have to give a mention to Head Chef Dean! Whenever he’s in the kitchen, you just know the food is going to be good. I tried the new brioche French toast with fruit today and it was so good! Definitely worth trying if you haven’t already. 😊
