I went here for my eye test this morning. I was the only customer (except for the one before me). They were running late, so I waited 15 minutes. When I went into the appointment, the optician was very polite but didn’t appear to know how to use the computer system, and he kept apologising as it was prolonging the appointment. In the end, he had to call one of the other staff members in to help him. Eventually, he sent me out to do my glaucoma test and eye scan with one of the other members of staff. He started to carry out the tests, but I had to ask for the chin and head rests on the machines to be cleaned, as both were soiled with foundation and makeup from the previous patient. It did make me wonder whether they were bothering to clean the equipment between patients, and it was only noticed this time because of the visible foundation. Not the most reassuring infection control practices. 🤨 While I was at the appointment, I was notified of a family emergency and, as the appointment was dragging on, I asked if I could pay and leave, then come back another time to order my glasses. The staff member said that wouldn’t be a problem. However, it emerged that the optician was still having issues with the computer system (despite both of the other staff members going in and out to try to help him), and I couldn’t pay until he had completed the notes. So I had to wait another 10 minutes after the appointment had finished before I could pay and leave. I was there for an hour, despite there being three staff members and an otherwise empty store (and that hour didn’t even include ordering my glasses). I’m going to take my prescription elsewhere to get my glasses. Wouldn’t recommend.

I waited past my appointment time and then was rushed through both technicians. I must also add that it was my first time to Tesco Wisbech and Vision Express (VE) within it and I had no idea where I was going. There is a serious lack of signage. I entered Tesco on the ground floor, walked half way towards escalators and saw VE pop up banner that had no indication where the store was. As it was close to barbers on the ground floor i though it was there, but it wasn't. Without any directions on the banner I proceeded upstairs looking around for other signs,.. there were none. I had to stop by Tesco customer counter and ask for directions as I could not see any signs upstairs at all. I was told to go straight past the cafe and the shop would be on my left. There were no stick-out signs to indicate that that's where the store was, the main sign was facing the tills area. Not a great idea from VE. Considering we go there because of bad vision - that really doesn't help. A good idea wight be to do a brand coloured line from escalators to the store if you can't have a stick out sign, and the pop up banner downstairs to actually say " go upstairs past the cafe"
