Same day appointment, didn't sit around for long, pleasant and helpful staff. Didn't require new glasses.

I came out not having seen jorgie read a card through the adjusted lens, although the manager (Charlie?) Done all he could to make it better I left feeling jorgies examination was not thourgh and I needed to see the prescription was correct. Jorgies eyes have deteriorated from a -1 to a -3.75 in 8 months, the first optician would not listen when I told her I'd been to ely 6 months prior due to lack of apps in march and that jorgies prescription strength had doubled and that the lens strength she was using was not even at jorgies current strength, jorgie became frustrated and tearful she couldn't even read the middle row. Mr Kent got us in with the lead optician who put a couple of lens in increased the strength and advised me to buy myeloma glasses! I didn't even get to see jorgie read the letters on the card with the enhanced prescription. Needless to say I'll be returning to ely to get a proper eye test before purchasing the glasses my girl needs. None of the normal staff, or the big tall man who use to be in charge (he was very tall with glasses and was a optician also) was there would strongly not recommend so disappointed! I've used this branch for 10+ years 🙁

Staff were so lovely, they really made my 3 year old feel at ease, they were so patient with him, made it easy for him to understand and included his toy dinosaur in the process. Only downside was him needing the loo half way through his appointment and there were no toilets he could use in the store.

My appointment was on a Sunday, expecting it to be quiet, it was the opposite. My appointment was for an eye test - time 09:05 - five minutes after the store opening time. I was kept waiting for 15 minutes before seeing the optician, only to be told that (oops!) I was called in before somebody else! Lucky for me, otherwise I would have been waiting longer, but unfortunate for the person who should have been called in before me although I do not understand why that person would be before me considering my appointment time. After the test I was advised that I needed a new prescription, which I was expecting. I was shown the glasses stand and told that someone would come and see to me soon. I spent some considerable time trying to decide which frame to choose and in that time no assistant came to see how I was getting on. In the end I had to find an assistant myself. I did not feel there was any personal one to one throughout. After choosing my frame I was sat down at a desk where they measured the frame/eyes. I received a message to say the glasses were ready to be collected. I made an appointment for a Friday morning to collect these and was greeted with a long queue. Eventually I was shown to a seat to try on the glasses. The frame needed adjusting and the assistant went to the machine that adjusts the frame and for some a considerable time chatted to a colleague. I was getting impatient by this time and just wanted to get out of the store. I am 90% satisfied with the glasses and think I will need to go back at some point when (if ever) it is a little more quieter, for some more adjustment to be made. On the prescription side, I think they have got this right - instore customer satisfaction needs addressing.
