Bought a pair of glasses, never got them. Was told 2-3 weeks and that I'd get an email or call when they were ready. Never got anything, called and emailed half a dozen times after a month and got radio silence. Went into store and was told they had them, waited 30 minutes and they couldn't find them so was told they would personally call me back. I checked with them in store that all my contact details were correct, never heard a thing. 6 months and still don't have the glasses I paid for.

Very disappointed with my experience at Specsavers Cambridge Lion Yard today. I have been using this branch for over 10 years for eye tests, glasses, lenses and have spent a significant amount of money with them over the years. Today I had an eye test booked for 11:10am. I travelled from Cherry Hinton by bus, but unfortunately the bus was delayed and I arrived at approximately 11:20am — just 10 minutes late. I appreciate that appointments run to a schedule and that they cannot always accommodate late arrivals. However, I was disappointed by the complete lack of flexibility or customer care given the circumstances. I explained that I had been delayed by the bus, but was simply told that they could not see me. The only alternative offered was around 3:30pm, which wasn't practical given that I had already travelled into the city by bus and had other commitments. I asked to speak to the manager, hoping there might be some discretion given that I have been a customer of this branch for more than 10 years. Unfortunately, the manager simply repeated that I was late and that seeing me would make the schedule run behind. What particularly frustrated me was that I have arrived on time for appointments at this branch in the past and had to wait myself, yet when I was just 10 minutes late due to public transport there was apparently no flexibility whatsoever. I left feeling very disappointed and, after more than 10 years of using this branch, told them that I would take my business elsewhere. A little understanding and customer service would have made a big difference.

Friendly and excellent service. But on one occasion when a hearing-aid dome had become lodged in my ear canal, there was no-one available to remove it for three days(!)

Referred to Specsavers’ Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS) for my 86-year-old mother. She was welcomed and looked after so kindly by all the reception staff, both before and after her appointment with optometrist Michael D’Souza, who was equally superb. He was gentle, thorough and took great care to explain everything clearly to Mum, making sure she understood what was happening and what she needed to do next. We both came away feeling very reassured. A really positive experience – thank you to the whole team.
