Unfortunately I can no longer justify paying the top tier membership price (just increased another £20 a month) for a gym that doesn’t live up to the quality it was when I joined 3 years ago. Over the last 6 months the gym has become over run at peak times, with waits on key equipment such as benches and squat racks. Large groups of school ages pupils, despite multiple signs around the gym, still using free weights and large numbers congregating at machines. The final nail in the coffin is the unbearable heat in the gym, even before the current heat wave. Multiple occasions air conditioning units were failing with signs saying repairs. 3 weeks later and air conditioning is ‘on’ but temperature in the gym unbearable. Staff are lovely and work so hard with classes and on the desk, but unfortunately with the cost increasing and quality decreasing it just isn’t worth paying anymore.

The heat in the gym area is becoming unbearable. The air conditioning is clearly not performing to an acceptable standard. Members pay a premium membership fee and should not be expected to tolerate conditions that are well below what would reasonably be expected from a facility of this calibre. In fact, I wouldn’t expect these conditions at a budget gym charging a third of the price. It’s also very convenient that the feedback section within the app appears to have been disabled for this club. Before this is dismissed as a technical issue, the feedback function works perfectly when any other club is selected, which suggests this is specific to this location and not wanting poor feedback for your facilities It's just not good enough !! I've emailed the club directly and have been ignored !

Staff are excellent. They are really accommodating towards food intolerances and physical disabilities. They always have a smile and feel welcoming and happy to help with anything. I have attended classes as part of my physical therapy to support with my disabilities and they have always been welcoming and adaptive. I feel confident using my waking aid down in the gym. Emma Bennett (PT) has been incredible supportive of this with me and is very Knowledgeable around supporting individuals who need it. She also provides sports massages which have been a vital part of my pain management plan. I have also been supported during classes by a PT named Geoff. The only downside to the gym is there is only 2 toilets upstairs, and the toilets downstairs in the female changing area are sometimes broken. The family changing area is also incredible small (only 3 small changing rooms, with 1 of these being a disabled changing with the only toilet) and often becomes over crowded. They also seem to be a lot less clean than the main changing facilities.

18 months ago my mindset about exercise and gyms was far from positive. I was intimidated, self conscious & scared. I felt that someone like me (unfit, untoned & overweight - the closest thing I owned to a pair of trainers were my old battered converse hi-tops) didn't belong in a gym! ... Then my husband joined David Lloyd gym in Bolton, and within a few months I saw how much his health (mental & physical) improved, and saw how much he was enjoying it. He convinced me to go with him one time, on a guest pass, and despite my apprehension, I quite enjoyed it. ... I went a couple more times then decided to join up myself. ... Realising that I was a fish out of water, I took advantage of the Kick- Start PT sessions, and immediately knew that I needed Kim Warburton (personal trainer) in my life! She made me feel like I absolutely did belong in the gym as much as the next person. She made me feel like it was absolutely possible to change my mindset, to be confident and competent in exercise, and to achieve the body transformation I had only ever dreamed about. Kim is inspirational and motivational, and I honestly wouldn't have lasted 3 weeks at the gym, never mind 18months, without her being my biggest cheerleader. Every week she challenges, encourages and engages me in a varied but structured program of strength & conditioning training. Her frequent check-ins between sessions, also keeps me on track. Even when there have been dips in my motivation and commitment, and consequently dips in my progress, Kim has remained supportive, and helped me to get back on track with understanding and encouragement that I am more than capable of meeting my targets, despite the "blips" ... I am now a fully converted lover of the gym and exercise , and could not imagine life without it now. I especially appreciate my weekly PT session with Kim, keeping me going in the right direction and constantly reminding me of the progress I've made, but also the (sometimes seemingly impossible) goals that we set and achieve.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience so that others are aware before making membership decisions. I was originally on a corporate membership and enjoyed the benefits that came with it. After a few years, I added my partner to my membership, which moved us onto a couples membership. What I was never made aware of was that this effectively meant my membership became tied to his, and that decisions relating to his account would directly impact mine. When my partner decided to cancel his membership with immediate effect due to a medical condition, I wasn’t contacted directly to discuss the implications for my own membership. Instead, I found out because I was copied into the final response confirming his cancellation. At that point, I was given just 9 days’ notice that my monthly payment would increase from around £80 to £109+ per month. I would strongly advise anyone considering moving from an individual corporate membership to a couples membership to fully understand the consequences first. In my case, I lost the benefits and pricing structure I had enjoyed for years, despite remaining a loyal member myself. What has disappointed me most is the complete lack of customer service afterwards. During those 9 days, I sent multiple emails, called the club asking to speak with the General Manager, requested a formal complaint be raised, and repeatedly asked for someone to discuss my options with me. Every time I called the club or tried to speak to someone in person, I was simply told, “Sorry, you need to go through the app.” I felt passed from pillar to post and completely dismissed, with no real effort made to address my concerns or discuss possible solutions. To make matters worse, as of 1st June, the automated emails requesting payment arrived promptly, yet I am still waiting for a meaningful response regarding my complaint and concerns. The facilities themselves are good, but the way this situation has been handled has left me feeling completely undervalued as a long-standing member. Loyalty appears to count for very little, and customer concerns seem far less important than collecting the next membership payment. Had somebody simply taken the time to speak with me, discuss alternative membership options, or prioritise resolving my concerns, I would most likely have remained a member. Instead, despite multiple attempts to make contact, I have still not received a proper response. As a result, I will now be serving notice to cancel my membership and will ensure that my friends and family are aware of my experience with this club before deciding whether to join themselves. Very disappointing experience from a company that promotes itself as a premium health and wellness brand.
