Very disappointed with the service I had an eye test at Specsavers, which was performed by a trainee optometrist. The appointment took around two hours or more to complete, which I was willing to accept as part of the process. I ordered two pairs of prescription glasses: one regular pair and one pair of prescription sunglasses. I was initially told that they would take approximately one week to be ready, which was fine. However, when I went to collect them, I was informed that there had been a mistake and that both pairs had been made as clear prescription glasses. I am a maritime crew member, and at the time I specifically needed my prescription glasses before leaving the country to join my ship for work. I explained this to the staff because I was due to leave the following week. I did not want to risk leaving the country without my glasses, so I was even willing to accept both pairs as clear glasses if necessary. However, the associate assured me that the correct glasses would be ready before I had to leave. I specifically asked him, and I remember his response clearly: “Can you guarantee they will be here before Tuesday?” It was Wednesday at the time, and he said yes. Unfortunately, I received a call on Tuesday informing me that the glasses were still not ready. At that point, I had no choice but to leave the country without being able to collect the prescription glasses I had paid for. What was particularly disappointing was how the situation was handled afterwards. I was not offered any compensation or meaningful alternative solution, and I was also told that the glasses could not be shipped to me. I ultimately had to leave the glasses for my mother to collect on my behalf, meaning that I now have to wait until I am able to see her again in order to receive something that I had already paid for and had specifically needed for work. I understand that mistakes and delays can happen, but in this case I clearly communicated my deadline in advance and was specifically given a guarantee that the glasses would be ready in time. I relied on that assurance when making my travel and work arrangements. The issue itself was frustrating, but what disappointed me most was the lack of accountability and customer support after the mistake occurred. I expected Specsavers to make a reasonable effort to resolve the situation, particularly since the delay was caused by an error on their side. I would appreciate it if Specsavers could review what happened and reconsider the fact that I was not offered any form of compensation or alternative solution. I believe that, given the circumstances and the fact that I explicitly communicated my deadline and relied on the guarantee I was given, some form of compensation would have been appropriate. Overall, this experience was considerably below the level of customer service I expected from Specsavers, and I hope this feedback will be taken seriously.

Always an excellent, friendly and knowledgeable team. They go above and beyond to make you feel looked after and aren’t pushy about sales. Were happy that although I needed new glasses I wanted to come back with someone to choose on another day.
