This was my first time visiting Specsavers. I had my first eye appointment there on 1 September. As I already had my own glasses, I only had the lenses replaced and collected my glasses with the new lenses on 12 September(costing £80). To be fair, the staff were friendly and polite, and I was happy with their customer service. However, I found the manager rather inflexible and felt they were unwilling to take the time to properly address a customer's concerns. In my experience, the staff were much more accommodating than the manager, and I was left with a very poor impression of the management. Unfortunately, less than a week after collecting my glasses with the new lenses, I was already regretting my purchase. The lenses became dirty incredibly quickly, unlike my previous lenses, which I had purchased elsewhere. I visited the store in person on Friday to explain the problem. As always, the staff treated me politely. To my surprise, I was told that the lenses had hydrophobic, oleophobic and anti-smudge coatings! I found this difficult to believe because their performance and quality were nowhere near those of my previous lenses. Another member of staff kindly explained how to clean my glasses, and I appreciate his effort. However, I explained that cleaning was not the issue. The problem is that the lenses become smudged and dirty extremely quickly, even with normal use. This was obvious from the very first time I wore them. It is frustrating, uncomfortable and simply not what I expected from lenses costing £80. Unfortunately, I was told that nothing else could be done and that this was just how the lenses were. I find this response extremely disappointing. If these lenses genuinely have all the coatings I was told they have, then I can honestly say they are the WORST-QUALITY lenses I have ever experienced. I regret spending £80 on them, and I will not be returning to this store or recommending it to others. I will now have to look elsewhere for replacement lenses and potentially pay again to resolve a problem that I did not have with my previous lenses. Although I have no complaints about the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the lenses and the lack of a satisfactory solution have left me extremely disappointed. I expected much better for the price I paid.

Staff seemed to forget I was there after waiting 30 mins. Came again a week later to accompany my partner and it was chaos again. Staff gossiping and no one seems to be working.

Optician very kind put me at ease. Clearly explained my conditions. Was told had to pay before apointment which was ok. Was great to hear when there that this service is free on NHS, so in the end I received a nil charge, which is great as I was seen promptly avoiding long weight at eye hospital and the costs getting there and back by taxi

I can not thank Kings Heath Specsavers enough. I visited on Saturday after visiting an NHS urgent care centre who suggested I try a local optician. I have since learned this is not the procedure and I should have gone straight to an optician. However a lovely optician agreed to see me and even called the urgent care centre to find out what had happened. She was incredibly thorough and concluded I had viral conjunctivitis, meaning the prescription I'd been given was going to be ineffective. Apparently the GP had panicked after I said the chloramphenicol wasn't working and prescribed fusidic acid (an alternative normally prescribed to pregnant women, which I am not). Anyway, the Specsavers optician was incredible reassuring and I left feeling a lot calmer. There was no charge for this consultation. Thank you again.
