Eye test and incorrect information – Chemsley Wood Specsavers Director didn't even bother to call me back too busy so she got Claire the manager to call me that gave me false information to start with.... I am very disappointed with the service I received during my recent visit to Specsavers in Chemsley Wood. I initially had an eye test at Castle Vale, but I was unhappy with the experience as I felt rushed. I therefore booked another appointment at Chemsley Wood the following day. During my visit, I had a second test/retest. The manager, Claire, told me that my prescription had not changed, as this was apparently what the optician had told her. I was also told that the NHS could potentially fine me £3,000 because there had been no change. I found this information very concerning and confusing. Obviously, my prescription would not normally be expected to change within 24 hours. The relevant comparison should have been with my previous eye test from approximately a year earlier, rather than simply comparing the Chemsley Wood result with the Castle Vale test from the previous day. Because I was unhappy with what I had been told, I returned to Castle Vale the following day. The supervisor there checked my prescription and confirmed that there had in fact been a change in my prescription. This makes the situation even more disappointing. It appears that the Chemsley Wood staff were relying on the eye test from the previous day rather than properly looking at my previous prescription from a year ago. My eyes were not going to suddenly change prescription within one day, so I do not understand why the previous day's test was being used as the basis for telling me there had been no change. I was particularly unhappy that this information came from the manager, as I would expect a manager to provide accurate and reliable information, especially when discussing something as important as an eye test and NHS rules. Being told that I could potentially be fined £3,000 was extremely worrying, and I do not believe I should have been given information like this without it being properly checked. My first visit to Chemsley Wood Specsavers was a very good experience, which makes this recent visit even more disappointing. Unfortunately, because of the way this was handled and the incorrect information I was given, I have lost confidence in the service I received. Sadly, because of this experience, I will not be returning to the Chemsley Wood branch.
