  Since this place was built, I've been a member around 5 times. And, on each occasion, I've ended up cancelling for various reasons. I've just done it again. This is meant to be a premium health club, which is why they charge premium prices. Only it isn't premium, its bang average. The biggest problem - the staff have forgotten the importance of their customers. The staff stand around chatting, never offer advice on how to use the equipment. If you want any advice at all, you have to pay extra for it and that costs well over the odds. Years back, friendly staff would walk the gym floor and offer guidance. Not any more. Equipment is often out of order, and for weeks. The place is often dirty. Seriously, if you want a premium gym go to a local hotel gym instead.

  David Lloyd Birmingham charges premium membership fees, but the condition of the club no longer reflects the price being charged. The changing room facilities are particularly disappointing, with visible mould, staining and water damage on ceilings in both the shower and sink areas. The extent of the deterioration suggests these are not recent issues and raises questions about maintenance and upkeep. The gym equipment is also beginning to feel dated compared with other premium facilities, and a number of machines are frequently unavailable due to maintenance issues. While occasional breakdowns are understandable, recurring equipment problems combined with the condition of the changing rooms create the impression that the club is not receiving the level of investment members would reasonably expect. The staff are generally friendly and the club has good potential, but the current standards do not justify the premium pricing. I have raised these concerns directly with management and hope to see meaningful improvements.

  I’ve been a member for over six months now, and I can honestly say joining this gym and spa was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The facilities are always clean, well-maintained, and have a great atmosphere that makes it enjoyable to work out and relax. The gym equipment is excellent, with a wide variety of modern machines and free weights, so whether you’re a beginner or more experienced, there’s everything you need for a great session. The spa facilities are also a fantastic bonus and are always kept to a high standard. A special mention goes to Ethan, who showed me around when I first joined. He took the time to explain all the facilities, answered every question I had, and made me feel welcome from day one. His friendly attitude and professionalism gave me confidence that I’d chosen the right place, and he’s continued to be approachable and helpful whenever I’ve needed assistance. After more than six months as a member, I can confidently recommend this gym and spa to anyone looking for excellent facilities, great customer service, and a welcoming environment. The team clearly cares about its members, and the quality of the equipment and overall experience speaks for itself. Highly recommended!

  Not happy. Visited this club as in area and they put markers on me as no show and got me blocked so i cannot even use my own gym. Tried to get them to unblock and rang every day and they cannot do it. I actually turned up but my pass wont swipe either as they don't recognise me as a member so i did it manually at the front desk. Not happy

  I’ve really enjoyed my membership at David Lloyd Birmingham. The facilities are good, with a wide range of equipment, swimming pools, tennis, badminton, padel courts with lots of classes to suit all fitness levels. What really stood out for me was the kids club it’s absolutely amazing. The staff genuinely care for the children and treat them as their own, which gave me so much peace of mind. My children loved attending and took part in so many fun activities including football, basketball, scootering, dodgeball, and arts and crafts. They always came home happy and full of stories about their day. My eldest also really benefited from the junior fitness opportunities. He was able to attend gym sessions with a PT, as well as parent and child classes such as BLAZE and Battlebox. He loved these sessions and learned so much over the year, improving every time and gaining real confidence in his fitness. The tennis classes for my children were also really good, and I want to say a big thank you to the staff, especially Row (Roll), who had the utmost patience with my children. They can be hard work at times, but she did an amazing job with them and made the sessions enjoyable and valuable. I also personally attended many classes myself including Spirit, BLAZE, Battlebox, tennis, strength and conditioning, and spin all of which were fantastic and really enjoyable. There was always something different to try, and the instructors were motivating and supportive. The atmosphere throughout the club is welcoming and family-friendly, with a strong sense of community. Staff are helpful and approachable, and overall the experience has been very positive. Although my membership has now ended, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the club. We will genuinely miss you all and would definitely recommend David Lloyd Birmingham to anyone looking for a good quality gym and an excellent all-round family fitness club.
