I was seen under the emergency eye care scheme and was given an appointment very quickly, which I really appreciated. The staff at Specsavers Cwmbran were friendly, helpful, and professional throughout. They took the time to explain everything clearly, so I understood what could be causing the problem with my eyesight. Overall, it was a very reassuring experience and the service was excellent.

Went in to book an eye test. Was greeted by a friendly young man at the door, I was directed to sit down with a female member of staff 50+ only around 5,2 light ish hair who had the people skills of a farm animal. Her attitude was appalling. Very monotone way of speaking. Lastly she said “when can you do, whenever then?” I replied “well I’m self employed so I’ll have to check” Id already mentioned I was a mother aswell and her reply was “soo.. you don’t even know when you can do it” I replied “your attitude is off putting, I’ll be booking it online instead” I left and honestly cried. Her tone was disrespectful from the very first question of what’s your date of birth. Was in there 3 minutes and definitely won’t be going back.

Very friendly staff, made my daughter feel comfortable and welcomed. My daughter has reading issues and the optician made her feel safe and secure whilst checking her eyes. Great staff and great help

Tried to buy two new pairs of glasses. Was told they needed to speak to a manager as I was overdue an eye test and they weren't sure if I could buy glasses with an overdue eye test.(My last eye test with Specsavers was 3 years ago) I informed them that I get regular eye tests through work so am confident my prescription hasn't changed and that I'd just like to buy new glasses. She came back, told me the manager was happy to sign off on allowing me to purchase the glasses but that it would be illegal for me to drive in them. Illegal for me to drive in new glasses that have the exact same prescription of the glasses that I currently wear? Are my current glasses also now illegal to drive in? I left without purchasing the glasses, decided to look online to find the law that states I need to have regular eye tests otherwise your glasses become illegal. Couldn't find one. Looked on the Specsavers website who they themselves quoted the same DVLA policy that states 'To drive a car safely, you must be able to read a car numberplate (made after 1 September 2001) from 20 metres, whether that’s with or without glasses or contact lenses. You also need to have an adequate field of vision.' no mention of needing eye tests every two years otherwise your glasses become illegal. I've ordered some new pairs online with a different company no problem - I don't think they're a criminal gang but who knows as they're selling glasses that are supposedly illegal to drive in..
