I had a short term prescription of lovenox sent to my local pharmacy (my insurance only covers it at a mail pharmacy so that's where the rest went), and thought that it had been picked up, but found out yesterday that it hadn't and somehow the prescription had been canceled. I began frantically calling, trying to get into contact with anyone who could write the prescription. I called the ortho office who wouldn't put me through to the on call provider since I hadn't had surgery in the last 30 days. I called this office, and then just never got a call back despite it being an emergency situation with a medication I absolutely need as I actively have a dvt and they are very aware of it. I called my pcp's on call line and they refused to prescribe it. I was bawling my eyes out because it was getting close to the closing time of the pharmacy and no one was helping me. I finally just called back the ortho office and lied about having a surgery to be put through and they prescribed the lovenox and i was able to get it barely in time. I can't believe that i had to go through all of that and your on call provider refused to call me back. I have been having issues with this office, with being told I can't be seen for 4 weeks but the surgeon telling me he wants me seen in 2 weeks. Then I was scheduled with one doctor then rescheduled with Dr Combs. They also put in a referral to pain management and when I got the call from their office, we were equally confused about it because it's not what I was in need of. I needed adequate acute pain management, which they weren't interested in providing and the hospitalist absolutely wasn't either. I had to message my PCP while I was in the hospital and beg her to call me so I could tell her what was happening and she told me to message her as soon as I was discharged and she would get it taken care of, and she did. She was shocked at what the hospitalist wrote in my chart and the fact that no one countered it.
Editing to add: they ended up scheduling me in 2 weeks like the surgeon wanted, then rescheduled me a grand total of 5 times, pushing it out to 4 weeks. I was sitting at work with my manager and we were like, is this some kind of sick joke? I was told I could see Dr Dooley on x day and I was like, that's the original appointment I had that you made me reschedule! All they had to say was "sorry". My ortho surgeon was refusing to let me go to PT without clearance from a vascular surgeon, so I had to go to a different practice to ensure I would not be rescheduled. I am now scheduled back here as I need surgical clearance and my ortho surgeon wants me seeing one of the surgeons here, but I'm going to absolutely lose it if they try to reschedule me. The very first time I went here, I had a great experience. The second time, they attempted to reschedule me and I refused so I ended up with a different surgeon which was fine. I have not had good experiences when Dr Johnson was on call, but Dr Grant has been great. I also noticed they removed my ability to message Dr Combs when he's my doctor, they just won't keep an appointment with him. I don't get it. He saw me in the hospital and said he wants to see me in 2 weeks, yet allowed his staff to continually reschedule me until I was forced to make an appointment elsewhere to get PT approval. Now I have a surgery scheduled the week after next and he's unavailable so I have to see a different surgeon, when my own ortho surgeon prefers I see Dr Combs as well. I'm so frustrated by all of this. I have never had any practice reschedule me more than once, and I've never had such awful follow through with any surgeon before. I simply did not have any hospital follow up because by a month it wasn't relevant anymore. I have just been doing all of this with medication prescribed by ortho and absolutely no guidance and I'm ready to pull all of my hair out. The first DVT I got was tiny and in my arm so there was nothing I had to do but take the medication. This one is huge and in every vein in my leg and I've just been going off what I've found on Google

Everyone at Atlanta vascular specialist are some of the kindest professionals I have ever been to. Doctor Shirey spent a lot of time with me explaining my vascular problems that I was having. He's very professional and genuinely cares about his patients.
