We offer compassionate in-home hospice care in the following counties: Coweta, Fayette, Spalding, Butts, Rockdale, Newton, Clayton, Henry, Pike, Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, Upson, Lamar, Douglas, Gwinnett and surrounding areas. We are locally owned and operated.
I placed my father a US Army Veteran in the Conyers location after two weeks at a local hospital. We wanted to make his remaining moments as comfortable as possible. While his stint at the location was very short, the staff was excellent. From the initial meeting to his placement, everything centered around his comfort and care. From the intake coordinator, nurses, cooks, and custodian staff. Every interaction was with people who made you feel like you were family. The hugs from staff and well wishes went a long way. I could not have asked for a better place for him to spend his final moments. The facilities were well maintained and very clean. The building was spacious and allowed family accessiblity 24hrs while having security door locks at night. The staff again was extremely happy, helpful and most importantly personal and professional. His nurse and respiratory specialist did a fantastic job in making him comfortable while in their care. Again I am truely thankful for Brightmoor and would recommend them for anyone who wants their loved one to feel cared for when they are coming close to transitioning.

Brightmoor was a shining spot for my Dad in my mom’s final months of life. Dementia had taken her memory of my dad and all of us, and she lived 24/7 in a hospital bed, in their home. Putting mom in a facility was not an option for my dad. He always said she may not remember who I am, but I remember who she is. The nurse who helped for months also checked in on dad after mom passed, and that speaks volumes ! Thank you again!

I read the positive reviews and truly wish that had been our experience. Sadly, we have been left with sleepless nights filled with trauma and guilt, knowing our loved one suffered and that we couldn’t help him. There were many heartbreaking failures in our experience, but the most painful truth is that our dad suffered until the very end. His symptoms and pain were minimized by the staff, and he did not receive proper pain relief until the final hour of his life. Once the pain finally stopped, he passed away peacefully.
Watching him suffer was a horrific and unforgettable experience. A week after his death, one of the administrators from Brightmoor called to express his sympathy. When I shared what had happened, his tone quickly shifted to defensiveness.

Frequently Asked Questions About Brightmoor Hospice
What is hospice?
Hospice is a team approach to patient care that focuses on quality of life. Rather than seeking a cure, hospice care focuses on the patient’s comfort, offering support that addresses the patient’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Hospice also provides practical support to caregivers during the patient’s illness and grief support. Hospice is not a place, rather a philosophy of care. Most hospice services are in the patient’s home, whether that is a nursing home, assisted living facility, or an in-home setting. At the center of hospice and palliative care is the belief that each of us has the right to be pain-free, maintain dignity, and that our families receive the necessary support to allow us to do so.
What services does hospice care include?
Hospice care includes registered nurses who act as the liaison between the patient and hospice medical director, certified nursing aide to help with personal care, and medical equipment and medicines related to the patient’s hospice diagnosis. It also includes the option of receiving chaplain, social worker, and volunteer services. Plans of care for hospice patients are overseen by the hospice medical director. Hospice patients are also eligible to receive respite care and access to a hospice inpatient unit for symptom control and management.
When should a person seek hospice care?
If a patient has a life-limiting illness and wishes to not seek aggressive curative care, then it may be time to seek hospice care. Although family members can initiate hospice services, the patient must have a doctor’s order, stating they are appropriate for hospice care. It must be approved by our medical director. It is never too early to seek hospice care. Contact us.
What is the cost of hospice care?
Hospice care is covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private plans. In 1983, Congress established the Medicare Hospice Benefit Act allowing Medicare and Medicaid to pay for hospice services.
How does the hospice admission process work?
Although anyone can call Brightmoor Hospice and ask about a loved one admitted onto hospice services, the patient’s doctor must make a referral for hospice care. Once the referral is received by our admission staff, the caregiver will be contacted to schedule a time to further discuss services. Our admission nurse will determine if the patient is ready for hospice by performing an evaluation for admission. The admission nurse will also discuss your loved one’s specific needs to develop an individualized plan of care.
Our qualified and empathetic admission staff is here to guide you through our hospice admission process. Contact us for information.
