My family doctor sent me to Piedmont Fayette ER due to an extremely swollen abdomen. So swollen, even the hospital staff thought I was pregnant (I'm not). After waiting 7 hours in the waiting room to see a doctor, I asked how much longer it would be. I was told I had been there the longest so "in theory" (her words) "it shouldn't be too much longer"...30 minutes later, I told the staff I was leaving. They asked me what good it would do to leave, and I said as much good as it's doing me to stay because I'm not being helped anyway. I left the hospital more swollen and in more pain than when I came in.
Side note: The staff had patients peeing in cups in the waiting room bathrooms and handing them over to staff members that were sitting in chairs in the waiting room. It was extremely odd to be handing a cup full of my pee to some guy in a crowded room full of people.
This hospital is the worst and so unprofessional. Been throwing up for 8 days and sitting in the lobby for over 8hrs with no treatment not even IV fluids. No follow-up or anything just sitting in a wheelchair vomiting

Long wait in the packed ER. It was loud with the amount of people. And some people are just rude and obnoxious. That’s not the hospitals fault. The restrooms were spotless and saw the cleaning lady every hour in the area over 8 hours. All of the staff were kind and courteous. It’s an ER visit so it’s not like a spa day.

I had Jestina Mason for the doctor that came to see me in the room. I really did not care for her bedside manner of over-talking when asking me questions. If you ask a patient a question just let them give you an answer instead of talking over them or rushing an answer that I wasn’t even going to say. I tried to explain to her the symptoms I was having when she asked me but when I was telling her she rushed over me talking and was naming symptoms I didn’t even say or was going to. She only came into my room once never came back to explain what I had or on the CT scan only the nurse brought my discharge papers and pills and told me to look on MyChart.I also looked on MyChart she stated that I wasn’t experiencing chills when in fact I told her I was! That is a false statement! I do appreciate the nurse and the lady who did my CT scan they had a better bedside manner than she did. I used to pick this hospital over any other but I just think I won’t be coming back here. When patients come in they want a caring doctor who at least listens and doesn’t rush patients. All I have to say is she better hope I wasn’t misdiagnosed and end up in the hospital again especially that I’m still having symptoms, and not in the way she “thinks” I was. Also how many more bad reviews does Piedmont have to get before the medical board steps in? It’s crazy to see how many other bad reviews there are you think whoever is in charge would have stepped in to make changes before they start to get a damaged reputation and declining patient volume. They definitely need staff retraining.

Listen if you’re going to the ER you’re just going to have to wait. People go all the time who don’t need to be there and it backlogs. Yes I did wait 8 hours on 01/09 with a gallbladder rupture and was in so much pain until they could get me a room. However, during that time the triage nurses in the waiting room were so kind in checking on me and trying to hurry up getting me a room. Sonya especially was so kind in keeping me updated and making sure I had pain medication until she could get me in a room.
Once I got into a room finally, my nurses took such good care of me! Jeremy was so funny and every time he came in he was great with communicating the process of surgery and my testing before the doctors even came in. Ikeiyah was so gentle when taking my blood, I never even felt the needle which was a plus, she rocked.
When it came down to my surgery, the OR team from the nurses, the anesthesiologist, to Dr. Shearon were incredible. They explained the whole process to me and made sure to ease my nerves and took excellent care of me before and after surgery.
The only complaint I have was the doctor in charge after I was admitted on 01/10, I never saw but one time. I can’t remember her name. I saw the surgeon more than her and the one time I did see her she was so cold and short, almost like it was annoying to be there. She was there for maybe 5 seconds the left and never saw her again. Other than that and the wait time, I had a good experience. Just be patient yall, especially if you aren’t there for something that is seriously life threatening.
