Upon arrival I was immediately taken to a room and the doctor and nurse came right in. After that point, I laid in the bed waiting for someone to return for over five hours. The nurse finally returned after that point to let me know I had an upper respiratory infection and said there was nothing they could give me, but refused to discharge me until the doctor said it was ok. My husband and I continually went to the nurses desk asking for the charge nurse and/or doctor who didnt return until another 2.5 after the initial 5 hrs. I laid in that bed an entire work day with no communication or treatment. After that wait, I had to stand outside and wait for another 15-20 minutes for the valet driver to return to his post. This is the worst experience I've ever had at Piedmont.
I had a disappointing experience with E.R doctor, Dr. Alexander Kelly during a recent hospital visit at Piedmont Atlanta hospital. I chose to drive almost an hour away (with tightness in my chest and shortness of breath) because of the previous ratings on Google about Piedmont.
I came in with a serious medical concern and asked about the possibility of getting an ultrasound. When I questioned whether it might be helpful, Dr. Kelly became visibly irritated and his tone was dismissive and mildly aggressive.
I understand that doctors have expertise, but patients also have the right to ask questions and be part of decisions about their care. Instead of explaining his reasoning in a respectful way, he shut me down for simply trying to understand my options.
This interaction made me uncomfortable enough to leave and seek care elsewhere. Patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and safe asking questions—especially in urgent situations.
The hospital that I went to after leaving Piedmont Atlanta, had a care team that was professional, respectful, and patient. Additionally, I got that ultrasound and it helped with getting closer to the reason of my health issue.
I hope future patients are met with more professionalism, empathy, and openness.
I feel like every time I come here I spend time wasting time rather than getting the care I really need. I’ve never gotten to what the issue is at hand. And I end up going home feeling worse. This time is my last time going here for any medical help. I was so weak and cold and this man forced me to get in the wheelchair when the time before they allowed me to lie in the bed and rolled me over to get a ct scan. They wouldn’t help me even get up and I felt terribly weak. I’ve been dealing with Piedmont hematologist as well with no help when it comes to that either. I feel like they look at my blood work not really asking any questions and don’t even prescribe anything for when my platelets get really low and I’m in excruciating pain. I just don’t recommend going to these people cause I’ve spent almost a year going to these people with no resolve and no care to find the root of the problem.
My nurse was very unprofessional didn’t clean her hands at all. I had to ask her to change her gloves she was touching everything in the room and then handling my needles.
She was not familiar with removing my stitches. She had the charge nurse come in for moral support which I found weird.
I asked about a numbing spray so I would not be in pain and they both looked at me like I had 2 heads.
Charge nurse stated they didn’t have any in ER.
I refused the service.
I was not to be a ginnie pig for this nurse that didn’t have a clue on removing hand stitches. The charge notes was trying to explain to her on how to do it. I was already in pain and I was not about to allow someone. On removing hand stitches work on my hand. Also, I inquired on why the doctor was not removing my hand stitches.
I also inquired why my hand was not addressed about the swelling that was severe. I was in a lot of pain so the only thing they did was medicate me and sent me.
Piedmont Hospital ATLANTA used to be my Hospital of Choice. I drove all the way from the south of South Fulton to come here. I have been coming here for 30 years. I was very disappointed in my ER visit with the staff. Also, the check-in person in the lobby was not nice as well. This was a Worker’s Comp. visit and he refused to take my information. He told me that the triage was supposed to do that when I got back to triage they told me he was supposed to do it after they contacted him in the front and I went back to my seat. He decided to call me up to take the information. I will not visit this hospital again. I am very disappointed in the behavior of most of your personnel here at Piedmont the only people that were nice to me was the triage nurse the nurse that took my blood and the x-ray tech technician what a shame that you have reduced your credibility with the people.
I went down and had lab work, & and EKG for left chest wall pain in inspiration. My husband was in the 6th floor Room 9 in the Marcus tower- I was called emergently to his room. I left my name, my phone number with the clerk and told her what was happening. The nurses on the floor up here called back down and told me to go down. I went down, told her I was back and then was ignored for about 2 hours. I went up to speak with her and she blamed it all in the doxtor(who I understand was an issue as he told me- however she did not correct the situation and let them know I was back. After I let them know, I was seen in a prompt fashion, but her attitude was one of,” not my problem, nor will I help in anyway” she did not, not give them any of the information that I had left with her. So she gets a -10. After I was taken back, I was treated very well, & as prompt as possible- so they get a 10.
