I am absolutely disgusted with Piedmont Hospital . My elderly relative has been admitted to Piedmont Hospital several times due to several different heart procedures, and complications. The first time he was admitted, he was taking to cardiac ICU after having a procedure at the Marcus heart valve Cath Lab. Every single person in the Samsky Area, including the receptionist were absolutely amazing. Every single nurse in the cardiac ICU was absolutely amazing… But when they put him down in the step down ICU It was like he entered a completely different universe. The nurses were rude had absolutely zero compassion, And we’re not attentive whatsoever. Now he’s been admitted again he went in on Friday morning and was admitted here we are Sunday and they still have not fed him anything. He was told that he would have a meal on Saturday as soon as speech therapy came in to approve him to be able to eat and apparently the speech therapy people decided to just not come. Fast forward to Sunday( today), They did come in and approve him to have a meal gave him some peanut butter, crackers, and here. We are 7 PM at night and he still has not received a meal. I’ve made several phone calls. Haven’t got a return call back. You can’t get anyone to answer from the nurses station. And once again, the nurses don’t act like they give a crap or not attentive whatever and are rude. The heart valve team is supposed to be the world‘s best, but the rest of that hospital is absolute trash. The cafeteria is disgusting, the food is disgusting i And the staff other than in the cardiac ICU and the samsky area are all trash. Good luck if you’re admitted on the weekend because you’re pretty much just told you’re screwed until everyone comes back from their days off on Monday.

I had a disappointing experience with E.R doctor, Dr. Alexander Kelly during a recent hospital visit at Piedmont Atlanta hospital. I chose to drive almost an hour away (with tightness in my chest and shortness of breath) because of the previous ratings on Google about Piedmont. I came in with a serious medical concern and asked about the possibility of getting an ultrasound. When I questioned whether it might be helpful, Dr. Kelly became visibly irritated and his tone was dismissive and mildly aggressive. I understand that doctors have expertise, but patients also have the right to ask questions and be part of decisions about their care. Instead of explaining his reasoning in a respectful way, he shut me down for simply trying to understand my options. This interaction made me uncomfortable enough to leave and seek care elsewhere. Patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and safe asking questions—especially in urgent situations. The hospital that I went to after leaving Piedmont Atlanta, had a care team that was professional, respectful, and patient. Additionally, I got that ultrasound and it helped with getting closer to the reason of my health issue. I hope future patients are met with more professionalism, empathy, and openness.

My experience for a procedure in Piedmont Hospital's Gastroenterology Surgical Department was excellent. Dr. David Quinn and his team were wonderful. I mention Karen, R.N. who attended me prior to the start of the procedure. She was very clear, respectful and kind in explaining each step. I also mention the anesthesiologist who slept me and I'm sorry that I forgot his name. I want to thank Joy, another nurse who helped get me ready for the procedure. She was professional and caring. The lady at the reception area desk when we arrived on April 7th was handling many people in line. She was so patient and sweet to everyone, including my driver. I wish I knew her name. She had to call for help with my appointment, which was not on the "books", but they were finally able to admit me into the G.I. suite. In closing, I want to thank Dr. David Quinn, who is certainly running a "tight ship", so to speak. Also, a hearty thank-you to Dr. Bradley Creel for referring me to Piedmont and Dianne Pearce, R.N.P. who helped Dr. Creel and me arrange to head down to Atlanta & Piedmont for the capsule camera procedure. I live in Blairsville and I am thankful I had an excellent friend to be my driver. Blessings to all involved.

I have spent about 10 days total at Piedmont hospital Atlanta. The absolute best nurse I’ve ever encountered in all my days being sick in all my states I’ve lived, khayiah Burton night shift nurse is the one! Khayiah Burton, of the night shift, made my very uncomfortable stay as comfy as possible. She did what she said she would do, she is professional and has the best bedside manner. I never had to ask for a thing because she was right there anticipating my needs. Even when I broke down over personal matters, she kept my spirits up and had wise words for me. Thanks to Khayiah Burton, night shift, I made it thru a very painful time in the hospital. This woman deserves a raise and a vacation. I hope Piedmont is appreciating the truly talented nurses they have…especially the new ones that recently came in. My other nurse that was just completely awesome was Natalia, also off the night shift. She went to great lengths and many hours helping me get the stuff I needed to finally leave the hospital and get in my own bed. She has only been with Piedmont a short time but y’all are truly lucky to have her. No sheist in either of these women, high morals and ethics on point. Both deserve more money, they are working their butts of over here and I don’t know if you understand they don’t have anyone watching. Thanks to these beautiful woman and so many more of the awesome night shift at Piedmont I made it through. Thank you guys♥️♥️♥️🙏

I wasn’t sure I was going to write a review but I feel like people should know what to expect when they book a surgery with this hospital. I want to start off by saying, I am giving it three stars because my surgeon was great, most of my nurses were incredibly kind, and I felt I was treated with respect and compassion throughout most of my stay - but that’s about where the positives end. Where to begin? I had surgery to have a tumor removed from my pelvis. We were told this would be pretty cut and dry. Surgery on Friday with a discharge likely by Sunday or early Monday. There were complications with the surgery as the tumor was made of blood vessels. (They don’t call this a complication but in our book, it certainly was as I was not expecting to wake up on a ventilator.) That being said, the surgery itself wasn’t really the issues. Complications and unexpected things happen all the time in the OR. It was everything that came afterwards that was awful. First, my family had little to no communication from the surgical team during this time. They had no idea I had lost basically all of my blood during surgery and was undergoing transfusions during surgery. What was supposed to be a surgery scheduled for early in the morning ended up lasting way longer than expected. No communication whatsoever to family members who are worried sick at this point that my surgery started late, and anything happening in the OR. They then moved me to ICU without telling my family that I was in a room. They waited and waited until finally asking and someone let them know I was already in ICU. Once I was off the vent, we were told we would immediately receive PT the next day. We did not. In fact, in my 6 day stay, we saw PT twice. I eventually got myself out of bed to use the restroom for the first time on my own accord with the help of my fiance. At one point, we became concerned about bleeding around my arterial line. No one was concerned about this, but a nurse did eventually change the dressing. When she changed the dressing, she taped that IV to another IV that was in my hand. They were essentially dressed together making it difficult to remove one without removing the other. Cutting corners. The IV began to pool up blood in the dressing in which we again pointed out. No concern. Until, that night, the line suddenly burst. It looked like a crime scene. I was covered in blood. My bed was soaked in blood. Blood was pooling under the hospital bed. Mind you again, I’m in ICU being treated for shock due to massive blood loss. Thankfully, I had two family members in the room. One who was able to put pressure on it and try to stop the bleeding while my fiance ran down the hall to find a nurse because there was not a single nurse in sight. They did eventually, and I do mean with no rush or concern, stop the bleeding. They did not communicate this happening to the next shift or my doctor or surgical team. No one had any idea it happened. I spent that night and the next day feeling sick and dizzy. There are too many dropped balls and lack of communication issues to name. We eventually got a patient advocate to come in and she was absolutely wonderful. Her name was Hope. She told us she wasn’t happy with what we had experienced and gave us her number to contact with any more issues moving forward. Once we got the patient advocate involved, my care was much better. But a patient should not have to have someone come in and scold a department in order for them to do their jobs correctly. Overall, it was an awful experience. My tumor has a 70% recurrence rate and if the time arises in the future that I must have surgery again, I will NOT be going to this hospital - which is a shame, as my problem was not with my surgeon, but with the post care in the hospital during recovery. Piedmont needs to re-evaluate their policies and what they consider “okay” in terms of practice. While the staff is incredibly friendly, the post care was abysmal & caused my stay to be longer than it should have been. Avoid this hospital like the plague.
