As a walk in I was delighted to have been able to be guided by Janelle. She is such a light in this location. Very informative and patient to say the very least. I am so glad that I was able to choose this location for all of my vision services. Alvin was also a delight when I called in to speak with him. Very please experience.

Joelle is top tier. I asked for help and walked out with a pair of glasses completely out of my comfort zone but fit the style that I was trying to achieve. She’s very knowledgeable of the products. Overall I had a pleasant experience at the Cumberland Mall location.

I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had at this LensCrafters location.
I’ve been wearing glasses and contacts for over 20 years, and my first-ever experience was actually with LensCrafters in Chicago—so I came in with trust and loyalty. Unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite of what I expected.
My initial eye exam went fine, but I was given a temporary prescription that ended up being worse than my previous year’s prescription. I didn’t realize this until driving at night, when I could barely see and had several near-miss accidents. I contacted the doctor’s office and was told I would not have to pay to correct an incorrect prescription.
When I returned for the follow-up appointment, my prescription was updated, but I was then told I had to pay anyway. The person who identified herself as the manager was dismissive, refused to listen, and was solely focused on collecting payment despite what I had been told previously.
The situation escalated unnecessarily when security was called on me—even though I never raised my voice, used profanity, or disrespected anyone. I was frustrated, yes, but professional the entire time. Being a customer paying nearly $1,100 out of pocket and having security called on me was humiliating and completely inappropriate. The CEO of the eye group ultimately reviewed the situation and confirmed that I was correct, and even stated security should not have been called.
The issues didn’t stop there. After being told I could come in on a specific day and time to have my lenses swapped, I drove over an hour only to be told they were “too busy” and that I’d need to come back another day. Another employee thankfully stepped in and completed the work, but by then the damage was done.
Poor communication, inconsistent information, dismissive management, and unnecessary escalation made this a horrible experience from start to finish. I will never return to this location and strongly caution others.
Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
What is the difference between an eye exam and a vision screening?
A comprehensive eye exam is administered by an optometrist and can detect not only vision problems but problems with eye health and general health as well. A vision screening is typically performed by a general medical practitioner such as a pediatrician or a nurse. While a vision screening can help identify vision issues, it can miss many important issues that a comprehensive eye exam can identify. This is why everyone is encouraged to get annual eye exams. Schedule your eye exam today!
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.
What should I bring to my eye exam?
You should bring your vision insurance and medical insurance information to your eye exam. If you currently wear any prescription lenses, bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. You should also bring any and all questions you may have. Contact your optometrist if you have specific questions about any additional items you think you may need to bring to your eye exam.
