  This “doctor” says he doesn’t work for the insurance company, but he’s an IME for the insurance company. Even if you don’t see him or talk to him (which I had to do and listen to his chaos), he has the power to deny your chiropractor benefits through your PIP as a chiropractor by recommending chiropractic isn’t the proper treatment. Does that make sense? Even if he doesn’t speak to me, see me or I’m not a regular patient, two recent herniated discs from a car crash on a MRI doesn’t warrant Chiro? Seems if you don’t agree with him, this is what happens. I’m sorry, but recommending me taking 400 steps backwards daily and taking away my chiro rights doesn’t seem to be the proper fix for most doctors. I was ordered by my auto insurance company to go see this guy for an evaluation. He started the conversation off by telling me how much he hates insurance companies and how he won’t work for them. He asked me some questions for about 30 minutes while bragging how good he is compared to most doctors because he recommends what he wants. Not what he’s told. I then found out he is an “IME” (Independent Medical Examiner) for Geico and he recommended to the insurance company to stop payment on my Chiro rehab at a different clinic. I have since not been able to gain access to my PIP coverage or other auto insurance medical coverage for chiropractic benefits. I also now have a medical bill to pay that my insurance was supposed to cover. Or so I thought. Do your research before you go here. Seems like tons of reviews by some people who don’t know who he really is or who he takes a paycheck from. Would an insurance company hire a doctor that is going to tell them to keep treating clients or cut off client’s benefits? I’ll let you decide. (Updated 10/7) He just called me saying this post is slanderous and that the one star review really hurts his business. He stated he will have his attorney reach out to me because of it. How did he even get my phone number? Are docs allowed to use past documents from insurance companies with patient info to call that patient about a bad review? He even states I’m not a patient of his. Yet, uses insurance info to call me about a bad review? I would think a doctor would be more concerned with the patients than their own wallet. Maybe ask for an explanation before demanding a higher google rating?

  The staff at Science Based Wellness are friendly and fun and Dr. Nickels is professional and a fabulous chiropractor. The overall experience was wonderful and I look forward to going back again.

  I had a great experience. The office staff is very friendly and Dr. Nickels is very knowledgeable. I am looking forward to getting back on the road to health with the help of Dr. Nickels. I have ignored my health way too long!
