We didn't plan to go to LensCrafters, but my partner and I were at the mall; we both needed glasses, and I definitely needed to update my prescriptions. They were able to accommodate me really quickly. Got my updated glasses prescriptions, Dr. Perez answered all my questions about my contacts/prescription, and I'm so sorry I didn't catch their names but both women at the front desk were great! All the sales associates up front were also really helpful, offering assistance when it was clear I needed it but also letting us peruse their options. Ended up with a really nice pair of Persols. This definitely marked a positive shift in our mood for the day. Thank you!

I wish I had the positive experience that many others seem to have had, but unfortunately that has not been the case for me. At this point, I have four pairs of glasses totaling nearly $4,000 that I cannot wear and have never been able to use because the prescriptions provided by the DPA Eye Center inside the store have been incorrect. I travel frequently for work and am often gone for months at a time. In 2024, someone picked up my glasses for me and I left for London just a few days later. When I tried them for the first time overseas, I immediately realized I could not see properly—everything was completely off, as if the prescription belonged to someone else. When I returned nearly two months later, I asked the store to correct them but was told, “Sorry, you only had 30 days.” I asked for a manager and received the same response. The store was very busy that day and I chose not to create a scene, so I continued wearing my old glasses. In 2025, I unfortunately decided to give them another chance. On August 30, I saw the DPA EyeCare provider again and was given two prescriptions—one for daily wear and one for computer use. After waiting several weeks for the glasses, I received them and neither pair worked at all. This time I returned them within the 30-day window. They sent me back to DPA for another exam, which I paid for out of pocket after being told by the LensCrafters representative that the fee would be credited back. That credit never happened. After months of delays, I was told that one of the frames I purchased could not accommodate the lenses because the frame was curved, leaving me with thousands of dollars in glasses that cannot be used. I returned again to the DPA provider, who made minor adjustments and compared my prescription to an older pair of glasses that worked. I then traveled again for work, returned, and picked up the updated glasses—and still could not see properly. Another appointment was scheduled, and I paid another $115 out of pocket. This time I met with Eric Perez, the head optometrist, who told me that my prescriptions had been significantly incorrect and issued new ones. At this point I am seven months into this process and still do not have a single pair of glasses that I can wear. One pair was remade as an “exception,” but the other pairs have not been corrected. Right now, I am literally wearing an old pair of glasses with a broken stem taped to the side of my head because they are the only ones I can see through. I’ve heard that when things go smoothly, this place can be very good. Unfortunately, when something goes wrong, the experience has been extremely frustrating and poorly handled.

Frequently Asked Questions About LensCrafters

How do I know if my child needs glasses?

Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.

Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
