I had a very disappointing experience at this hospital and feel compelled to share my concerns so others are aware.
During my visit, there was no appropriate specialist available to properly evaluate my condition, yet decisions and conclusions were still made about my care. Instead of focusing on medical assessment, staff raised inappropriate concerns about family dynamics that were unrelated to the reason for my visit and made the experience uncomfortable and distressing.
I also believe I was misdiagnosed due to a lack of thorough evaluation and insufficient medical knowledge demonstrated during my care. What was most upsetting, however, was the overall lack of empathy and professionalism. Several staff members were rude, dismissive, and did not take the time to listen or show understanding toward my situation.
Patients come to a hospital expecting competent medical care, compassion, and respect. Unfortunately, my experience reflected the opposite. I hope the hospital takes these concerns seriously and works toward improving staff training, communication, and patient-centered care.

Unfortunately our experience was not the best one. Not one friendly face or smile from any of the team members. All of them staring at their phones. It took 3 hours after the initial check in for anyone to come in and check on my son after the ambulance dropped us off. It was only after I asked if anyone will be coming to check him. None of the staff members seem to be caring or have any urgency with their overnight patients. I can hear the nurses talking about their social media posts and weekend plans instead of checking in to offer a warm blanket or a pillow for my son. I once again had to ask for these things which we never received that pillow during his overnight stay. The next day an hour before discharge one of the nurses brings two blankets saying “in case you’re cold”. Very disappointing to know this is how our children are being treated in their ER. Nicklaus Children needs to do a better hiring selection, process or training to have caring nurses who actually love their profession and are not just there for a paycheck to spend on their weekend brunches and plans.

We had a scheduled MRI appointment for our newborn. We were told to arrive at 10 AM and to stop feeding the baby at 6 AM. Despite having a confirmed appointment, we were not taken in until 1 PM — a three-hour delay that meant our newborn went six hours without food.
This is not acceptable for an infant. An adult can wait. An emergency situation is understandable. But a newborn cannot go that long without eating, and the hospital knew exactly who the patient was when the appointment was booked.
To make matters worse, the nurses in the area were talking loudly and singing, so the baby couldn’t even sleep through the wait. Every time we asked for an update, we were told “15 more minutes” and that we were next — over and over for three hours. A simple honest ETA would have gone a long way. At least we could have made an informed decision instead of being strung along.
For a procedure this expensive, the level of care and communication should match the price. Extremely disappointing experience.

I had the worst experience here with my daughter which was shocking because growing up I went to this hospital as a patient myself and I have nothing but good memories. I took my daughter Thursday night after throwing up, having a fever and a stomachache on her right side that had her crying and bending in pain. Upon arrival the doctor told me it was viral without putting a hand on my daughter. I explained to her she has been taken to her pediatrician twice and just kept getting worse the doctor would cut me off and would t even let me explain her symptoms after I kindly said to let me finish my sentence she decided to examine her and said she needed an ultrasound which was quite far and the tech that came to get us wanted my 7 year old who was in agony to walk (a far walk may I add) I requested a wheelchair and was denied. Mind u they suspected appendicitis so how would that make sense. In general the doctor was extremely rude and dismissive. I would ask so like to add that my daughter is 7 and is her second visit to the er last time we went she was months old. With that being said the nurse and the ultrasound tech that did the ultrasound WERE AMAZING!

This was my first time at this hospital, and I truly hope it will be my last.
This facility is supposed to be one of the best in the area, but our experience was extremely disappointing. We arrived on a Monday night around 10:00–10:30 PM, and the lobby was completely overcrowded with families and sick children of all ages waiting to be seen. The situation was chaotic and clearly overwhelmed.
Although my child was prioritized due to the nature of his condition, that meant very little in practice. We were simply moved from the lobby into a room, where we then waited until 2:00 AM to be seen by a doctor. That is hours of waiting with a baby, which is incredibly difficult and unacceptable. A child cannot understand or tolerate that kind of delay.
Twice I considered leaving out of desperation. Both times, I was told repeatedly by different staff members that “the doctor is coming soon.” This turned out not to be true. What was even more concerning is that multiple staff members told me that Mondays are always the busiest days. If that is the case, how is it possible that a hospital of this level is not properly staffed to handle predictable demand? How is there not more than one doctor available overnight?
When the doctor finally arrived, the visit lasted no more than five minutes. The treatment provided was minimal and could have easily been administered much earlier, potentially even by a nurse.
The hospital’s protocols do not seem to prioritize children or families in urgent situations. The entire experience felt inefficient, disorganized, and neglectful.
One thing they were very efficient at, however, was billing. Shortly after being placed in a room, someone came in almost immediately to collect the deductible. It raises a serious concern when there appears to be no delay in collecting payment, but hours of delay in providing medical care to children.
This was a very distressing experience, and I would not recommend this hospital to other families. It is unacceptable for a pediatric emergency setting to operate this way. Whoever is responsible for managing this facility should take a hard look at these conditions.
