  What a wonderful experience my husband and I had with Penny! She helped us pick out the perfect pair of glasses for each of us. Since it was right before Christmas we thought it would take a while but they came in quickly!

  If the glasses aren’t perfect they bring it to your attention and reorder them. There was a slight chip in the edge of my recent order for new glasses and frames they let me take the chipped ones until the new lenses came in and then exchanged them for the undamaged ones. I asked William if he could put the chipped lenses in my old frames as a backup which he did willingly. We have used Target now for the last 2 years and between my wife and myself have gotten 8 pairs of glasses from the Cape Coral store. We couldn’t be happier with their service and professionalism. We will be back next year.

  On Saturday afternoon, December 20, 2025, I returned to the Target Optical location in Cape Coral, Florida (Pine Island) to request clarification regarding a recent purchase of eyeglasses with progressive lenses that did not match my original prescription. My prescription was issued by a vision center I have attended for many years. Two days earlier, during a visit to a separate ophthalmology center that currently treats my glaucoma, I was informed that the progressive lenses did not correspond to the prescribed values. I returned to Target Optical simply seeking an explanation. Unfortunately, my concerns were dismissed repeatedly and quite forcefully by a female staff member whose name I do not recall. She insisted that the glasses were correct and attributed any differences to laboratory adjustments related to lens curvature and manufacturing processes. Another staff member, William, echoed this position, asserting that both the nurse and optometrist at the ophthalmology center were mistaken and stating that doctors “never know about this subject.” As a client of Target Optical and a patient receiving ongoing medical care, this interaction left me feeling vulnerable, insecure, and deeply uncomfortable. I was placed in an awkward position, questioned extensively about my symptoms, my medical appointments, and whom I had spoken with, almost as if I were being interrogated rather than assisted. After prolonged discussion and multiple technical explanations, William eventually acknowledged that there was, in fact, a discrepancy in the progressive lenses—specifically in the near-reading portion. This discrepancy was objectively verifiable: the values marked on the lenses were +2.26 for the left eye and +2.15 for the right eye, whereas both should have been +2.75 according to the prescription. These differences were also confirmed using in-store equipment. After consulting with my husband and discussing the situation with my daughter and son, we felt exhausted and unsupported by the unwelcoming approach we encountered. As a result, we decided to return the glasses. This experience was disappointing and distressing, particularly given the medical context involved, and it fell far short of the level of care and professionalism I expected.
