My aunt caught a UTI at this facility that led to her experiencing psychosis and other symptoms which went ignored. This led to her having a stroke on site. The nursing manager Holly called tried to call my Aunt's deceased mother who they had listed on her chart as her child instead of following the healthcare proxy and advanced directive paperwork they had on file which only delayed treatement when she was sent to the ER. My aunt was single and had no children. The weekend after Thanksgiving, the first signs of the infection my aunt caught at this facility were noted and follow up was requested via email to the social worker Maya. Maya Philips the social worker reported she would provide a follow up. An entire month went by and follow ups via email were requested on a weekly basis. Maya refused to provide follow up. All she did was CC her superiors in the emails: Vanessa Desilmar and Mark Howells who also both failed to act. I received a voicemail from Wayne the DON shortly before my aunt took a turn for the worse and needed hospice care where he claimed my aunt was her own personal responsibility, refusing to answer questions, and that my aunt would have to consent for others to be in the care team meeting. Yes, in a VOICEMAIL! Her Delaware state healthcare proxy and Advanced Directive were invoked by Jefferson hospital and doctors as my aunt was incapacitated. This was brought to the attention of the facility admin Tammy. Instead of fixing the issue, she further documented the negligence of the faciltiy and direct violation of Delaware law in email supporting Wayne's decision making and comments, while giving a false rational in which she then directly violated Delaware law herself. My aunt was placed in a room on the old Atlantic Shores side where mice decided to make their home. After filing about 8 grievences a month after requesting a follow up, Tammy claimed the room was cleaned and sanitized despite this not being the case and we have pictures to prove it. Kindq weird this was 2 weeks before my aunt was hospitalized due to injuries and the infection sustained at this facility. Oh yeah, they still ignored the signs of the infection, requested appointments to address these clear issues, and refused to provide follow up… again all documented in email. When my mother and I went to pick her belongings up post death, the drawers she used on a daily basis were filled with mouse droppings. This was pointed out to the CRNA who seemed visibly panicked and told my mother and I that she had been trying to tell staff about this issue. Before my aunt was transferred to the resident side, as per Maya's documentation, my aunt needed some more time before she were to RETURN HOME. Prior to transfer to the long term side, she was under the care of the Nursing Manager Linda who refused to provide information to my mother and I in a care plan meeting which further contributed to my aunt's declining health which she ultimately paid the price with her life. The doctor at the hospital ended up court ordering an autopsy as a consequence of this facility'sdecision making. It's insane because this whole thing was preventable in NOVEMBER! They decided to make me out to be a monster instead. My Aunt's death is in the hands of Linda, Tammy, and Wayne. Oh, and to make to make it even worse, after Tammy refused to follow the law, she harrassed me to pay my Aunt's outstanding bill for over $30,000. Interesting how we were “promised” my aunt was well but she had months of outstanding unpaid bills at this facility. Tammy had the opportunity to make it right, but she failed so badly. She sent us a condolence card in the mail. That's a slap in the face. The doctor didn't court order the autopsy for no reason. Please be very careful of your loved ones because there is a chance they will lose their life at this facility. Turns out my theory of what was going on with my aunt was true the entire time too. My aunt passed away on 1/16/26.

My experience and time at Ocean Grove Post Acute have been nothing but amazing. Since last year our Grace and Love Community Outreach has been going to play Bingo with the residents and give prizes. They really look forward to us coming each time.

I recently visited Ocean Grove to see my aunt and had a great experience. The building looks really nice with the renovations—clean, smells good, and the residents seemed happy. Maggie was super helpful finding my aunts room, and Nicole (my aunt’s CNA) did a really great job—very caring. Very welcoming place.
