I have been a VIDA member for at least four years. The prices keep going on and the value for money keeps going down. The steam room has been closed for more than three months, without any clear reason provided by staff. As a consequence, the sauna gets super packed and some of the wooden planks are falling appart creating a security hazard. The steam room in U street was also disfunctional when I went there recently. The quality of the staff at the reception is also highly variable, with many of them not even greeting you when you come in. Not the kind of "high end" gym I have been used to in the US and abroad.

Do not join any of the vida locations. The membership price is very expensive but I’ve seen better maintaince of equipment at planet fitness. They charge a lot, make it try to look fancy by add weird annoying scanners to get in, but then can’t even provide hot water for showers. Much better off joining equinox if you want luxury, New York sport club if you want mid range, or planet fitness if you want budget.

Instructor classes with Hansen, Chase, Michaela, and Dylan are always fun for beginners and their attention to detail to ensure everyone is have a good workout is superb. Personal trainer Patrick was an amazing instructor.
As for the vida as a whole, a bit disappointed in how they operate. Offering Black Friday deals when other facilities or departments have no clue in terms of processes or promotions. The aura spa and hair salon have no clue in terms of how to utilize the hair cut credits offered and how to utilize the spa credit as it doesn’t cross into their system. Lots of hassle to utilize the credit when one person at the desk says they see the credit and then you show up to your appointment and get charged because they do not see the credit and have to get management involved. Manager was not in a good mood to assist.
Same thing with emailing a different location like ballston to utilize the Pilates credit. Had to get management involved as well.
Another guy at LC was also having the same issue in line as well.
Don’t offer promotions, if you are not ready to execute them and let your staff know.
Massage was not the best. Person checked her phone 4 times throughout the massage.

For the high $150+ monthly price you pay (plus $300 initiation fee), it’s pretty crazy that equipment is constantly out of order and services are frequently interrupted. Also don’t bother going at normal times for workouts - not enough treadmills and weight machines, which can result in long wait times for things you’re looking to do.

Used to be such a nice gym but over the past year there have been month long periods without towels, hot water, or a functioning steam room. Instead they’ve installed expensive art work and floors which no one was asking for. A real shame as I used to love this gym.
