I typically don’t write reviews. But pure barre Westport is the most unprofessional place I’ve ever dealt with. When you try to cancel your membership on the app, it redirects you to the contact information. It says in order to cancel, you have to reach out to them and can’t do it online. With this knowledge in mind, I’ve tried to call and reach out a few different times. I’ve left voicemails. They never answered the phone and I never got a call back. I had my boyfriend try calling a few different times when I was at work. Nobody answered him either. Even he found it appalling how they supposedly run a “professional” workout gym but can’t answer the phone? So how am I supposed to cancel when nobody answers the phone or returns my calls? They say to give a 30 day notice, yet I called 30 days before the next billing period and didn’t get a response. I’ve been trying to cancel for a month. Finally, we get someone to answer the phone and they say you have to email and ask for the forms yourself. They said they’ll have a manager reach out to me to handle this situation. They texted me and sent me the email address. I told them I emailed them and AGAIN no response from them 😭 EVEN when I emailed them. I emailed them a second time. NO. RESPONSE. I texted them back saying I sent emails and I’m met with a “this service is unavailable” text? Which is also weird because this number has texted me and replied to me since I got my membership. And now all of the sudden the service is unavailable? Hmm… rightttt. After all of this, I had to CALL AGAIN asking for someone to make this right and to please cancel my membership. After persisting for over a month, I finally got the email back with the form to cancel. They told me they sent a message saying they don’t answer emails on the weekends and would reply on Monday. I NEVER got that message either. How was I supposed to know that if they never sent me a message saying that? And they’re open on the weekends so why would anyone assume they don’t respond when they’re open? But of course, I’m being charged for next month :) even though I was actively trying to cancel my membership. It’s extremely unprofessional, frustrating, and quite frankly a scam. Take barre at literally any other place besides here. And from the reviews I’ve seen on here, theyre probably going to reply saying it’s my fault still.

Pure Barre is the perfect mix of challenge and focus. The classes are full-body and demanding but never crushing; they are as hard mentally as they are physically. I’ve seen real changes in my muscle and mindset since starting. It’s a workout that pushes you to be present and determined, and the community makes it even better—the people who come consistently are fantastic humans who have become friends.

Signed up for a class package last year but only attended a couple of classes before package expired -- was out of commission due to a severe ankle injury. I emailed the owner to ask if there is a way to get a longer extension. She said I was required to provide physician's note proving that I had an injury. Due to the fact that I am a physician myself, and was hobbling around for months, it seemed pretty obvious that I had an injury, but alas my word was not good enough. It wasn't worth the hassle for me to set up an appointment with another physician just to get a note to "prove" to Pure Barre that I was telling the truth. Oh well. I have happily taken my business elsewhere. Update: the class package was sold over the phone (they placed an unsolicited phone call to me). The "original purchase agreement" was not provided at the time.
