    This was the second care giving company hired for me by the VA. The first company's care giver claimed that she is so fast, that she works 3 hour shifts in one hour and then leaves. I refuse to be a part of defrauding anyone. Thus Home Instead was hired by the VA next. This company's management acted like they wanted to be my friend. They wanted me to feel free to call management and chat about anything and any issues whatsoever. The problem with this was that if I mentioned anything at all negative or problematic about a care giver they never attempted to work out one simple issue. They simply replaced the care giver. I lost great care givers that way. Until the care giver who took a photocopy of an appointment with my neurosurgeon; with the date and time of a scheduled CT scan. I told the care giver not to take the photo. That I was not comfortable with her taking photos of my medical records. She said she needed the address and took the photo anyways. This agency providing care giving for me quit exactly one day prior to this scheduled CT scan. My fusion had failed secondary to what we now know was abuse during handy van transportation on day 3 of the neurosurgery, with an excellent and honest Neurosurgeon, who saved me from becoming a quadriplegic. On day 9 after surgery, the care giver from Home Instead assigned to my case showed up stating that she was changing her plans for driving me to my post surgical appointment. She announced that she had decided she was too afraid to travel on the highway, which is a very easy, direct route to my surgeon's office. She would be taking all of the back roads. I was ready for her that morning and had my neck brace ready on the table. I asked her how long this trip was going to take. She did not know. So we both started looking it up on our phones. She said she wanted to make sure she put my seatbelt on me when she put me in her vehicle. She stated this 2 or 3 times. Sounded good to me, although the change of plans was strange, unexpected, and stressful. I fogot my neck brace, with the stress. She said nothing. When we got to her car, she helped me in, and then reached over me from slightly behind me on the right. As she reached over my shoulder, she struck me very hard with her forearn on my right shoulder. That was an assault. She drove me to a location close to the West Haven VA. I said you are down the street from the West Haven VA. We are going to a different hospital. She acted very nervous, swinging into a parking lot, and circling around. I had to call the surgeon's office to let them know we would be significantly late, and find out if my surgeon would still see me. Gee, I wonder why this company's managers wanted me to chat with them about anything whatsoever, took great care givers off my case and replaced them. The last one took photos of my medical records against my stated wishes. Violating HIPAA. BEWARE VETERANS. If people want their family members who are veterans to be treated well, then we all must take responsibility for treating veterans well!! All the Best!

    The team at Home Instead is amazing! I just want to take a moment to recognize the incredible job my dad’s caregiver is doing. She shows up every single day with patience, compassion, and genuine care. She’s there for anything he needs. It gives me so much peace knowing he’s in such capable and caring hands. I am beyond grateful for her and Home Instead.

    Home Instead has been an amazing and helpful resource for my elderly father (age 100). The team of personal aides, business office support and help coordinators have been extremely helpful. They have provided wonderful daily care for my dad and have helped find transportation to events like doctor visits, my daughter’s wedding and even a grave side ceremony. They have my highest recommendations.
