I had a cleaning appointment scheduled for January 16 that I needed to cancel. I called on January 12 and 13, but the phone rang repeatedly with no answer. I was eventually placed on hold for about 15 minutes, and no one came back on the line. It wasn’t a big deal at all, but I made a mental note to try again the next day. On January 14, I was unable to call due to the Verizon outage.
When I called again today, a woman answered, and I explained that I needed to cancel my appointment and apologized for it. She mentioned a $50 cancellation fee. I wanted to explain that I had tried to cancel in advance but was unable to get through, and while I wasn’t overly concerned about the fee, I wanted to let her know to see if she would understand, in case it could be waived. She was super rude and defensive.
I genuinely did not intend to cause any issues and felt bad afterward if my call was taken the wrong way because she hung up quite annoyed. I was simply trying to explain that I had attempted to cancel in advance, not trying to attack her at all. I was already on edge due to a serious family emergency that required me to cancel the appointment, so the interaction felt especially confusing and upsetting- I felt like crying after!
While the appointment was ultimately canceled and the fee was waived (which I really appreciated), the response I received was super shocking, rude, and left me feeling uncomfortable.
I did not even get a chance to reschedule, but because of this experience, I unfortunately won’t be returning. People don’t cancel for no reason—life happens! A little understanding goes a long way!
