I went into Quest Diagnostics for a full round of lab work, and my veins decided not to cooperate. It could have easily turned into a rough time, but Mary handled it with so much patience and calm. She kept talking to me, stayed kind throughout, and never made me feel like a problem. You can tell she cares about what she's doing. She made the whole thing as easy as it could have been.

Communication is expected and respected. The facility I went to seem to be running 25 minutes behind. You have contact information for all appointments yet no information was sent out to inform patients of the delay. I ended up late for another appointment that day.
I am not speaking with certainty, but I do believe that a walk-in was taken before me and it happened to be at my scheduled appointment time of 11:20 AM
All that being said once I was taken back, my phlebotomist was upbeat, informative, and very personable.
The facility at
4500 E Ninth Ave, Unit 160, Denver, CO had its exterior doors locked to the outside so no one was able to enter the building directly. No signage to direct patients on how to enter the building. (Crossing the street and entering the main hospital, taking elevator up to the bridge between the buildings and then back down to the floor with your office.) I got lucky after a few minutes someone came out of 4500 so I was able to enter directly. Upon my entry I met another patient who had walked all the way around and asked how I got in.
You could do better.

READ BEFORE YOU GO. Quest diagnostics 4500 E 9th Ave #160, Denver, CO 80220.
This location is inside Rose medical center. This building is CLOSED on the weekend. You must enter by going into the emergency room across the street, taking the elevator up and entering the building using the sky bridge to cross back across the street.
The front door to the building that this location was inside was LOCKED. Most customers had to beat on the front enter until a security guard came.
One lab tech called in sick, my appointment was at 840 am and I wasn't called back until 915. The lab tech was doing everything she could, but, missing half of their staff the schedule was tanked and got worse as time went on.

If you’re coming on a weekend for lab work, be aware that the front door is locked and no one is there to let you in. You need to go across the street to Rose Hospital and walk in the mother and baby emergency entrance. There is an elevator on your left that you can take to the third floor to access the sky bridge, a security guard will be there when you step off the elevator, just go to the right. After walking across the sky bridge you’ll find an elevator, take that to the first floor and then go to suite #160 and open the door for Quest.
Frequently Asked Questions About Quest Diagnostics
What do I need to know before I arrive at a Quest Patient Service Center?
Please be aware that when you visit a Quest Patient Service Center:
• Scheduled appointments are strongly encouraged and will receive priority. Please arrive and check in 10 minutes before your appointment time. If you check in more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, you will be served as a walk-in.
• If you walk in, you will have to wait for the next available opening.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Scheduled appointments are strongly encouraged and will receive priority. If you walk in, you will have to wait for the next available opening.
Should I be fasting?
Fasting before a blood draw means you don’t eat or drink anything except water. If your test requires it, don't forget to fast for 8-12 hours before your appointment. If you’re not sure, contact your doctor's office. To learn more about how to prepare for your test, visit QuestDiagnostics.com/patients/get-tested/prepare/fasting for additional fasting information.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please arrive and check in 10 minutes before your appointment time. If you check in more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, you will be served as a walk-in.
You should bring the following to your appointment:
•A lab order from your doctor. If your doctor did not give you a paper order, check with them to see if they sent it electronically.
•Photo identification listing your first name, last name, and date of birth (for example, a driver's license, government issued photo ID, Passport, or Green Card).
•Current health insurance information.
•Credit, debit, or health savings card. You will be asked to preauthorize payment for any balance due after your insurance is billed.
It’s important to also know if your test requires fasting the day before and/or morning of your appointment. Your healthcare provider should have indicated this on your lab order or during your visit. Learn more about fasting before a lab test.
Note: Childcare is not available and the waiting area is not attended. Some testing protocols, such as drug screenings or pre-employment screenings, have strict rules which do not allow children to accompany the patient during sample collection. If you have questions about your testing protocols, please contact your healthcare professional or employer for additional information.
How do I check in when I arrive?
Sign in using the Check-in kiosk, or if not available, sign the clipboard at the front desk. Please be prepared to present a valid photo ID and insurance information. Be sure to mark the reason for your visit when signing in.
If you were unable to preregister ahead of time, and would like to do so, you may be able to complete the registration process if you arrive a few minutes early at a Quest Patient Service Center that has a Check-in kiosk. When you check in with your mobile number, you may be asked if you want to complete the registration process on your smartphone while you wait.
My doctor told me they would send over an order. Do you have it?
If your doctor said they would send us the order electronically or via fax, there is no need to confirm that we have the order. If we do not have the order, we will call the doctor to obtain it when you arrive at our Quest Patient Service Center. To prevent delays, be sure to visit our location during your doctor’s office hours or obtain a copy of your order from your doctor.
How soon after my visit will my doctor receive my lab test results?
Turnaround times for test results can vary. If you have a MyQuest account, your test results will be delivered to your account as soon as they are available. This can take 2-5 business days from the time the sample is received, depending on your test.
You should always follow up with your doctor to discuss your results.
