Hands down the best eye appointment of my life. I feel like a kid again, when I got glasses and saw the leaves on a tree for the first time. Apparently, my prescription has been off for at least the last handful of years, over-corrected by a half diopter in one eye and 3/4 in the other.
Staff were friendly and did the various machine tests, including an OCT machine I've never encountered before that imaged the back of my eye. Doctor Hoover was very knowledgeable, friendly, and above all extremely competent. He quickly dialed in on an updated prescription that has me seeing the best I ever have.
As a nice little bonus, it ended up being cheaper than my last eye exam, and I came away with a year's worth of contacts instead of the typical 6 months supply my insurance usually gets me. As much as I hate going to the mall, I'll brave it once a year to see Dr Hoover again.

I had a great experience with the check-in staff. They were kind, helpful, and shared great information upon arrival and during my initial imaging before seeing the doctor. I think they deserve recognition.
However, I had a very uncomfortable experience with the Doctor when she entered the room. She did not introduce herself and immediately complained about trying to understand my charts or images. It was uncomfortable from the first moment she entered the room. She never said please or thank you, and she was quite demanding and harsh with her language and tone. See never met my eyes when talking to me and kept her gaze on the computer or charts. While I am not asking for a friend at an Optometrist appointment, I am expecting a better bedside manner. I left disappointed with my visit and unsure if I could even trust my new prescription, especially being rushed out of the exam room and not having even been introduced by the doctor seeing me. Even with insurance, I am spending my hard-earned resources on co-pays and my time to see someone for help. I went into a setting where providing help should not feel like it’s her unwanted chore. I should not feel pressured if seeing option A or B is better with audible sighs of impatience, unfriendly gestures and commands, and I should not not be introduced to who is seeing me. Next time, if I visit again, I will ask who saw me on my last appointment and request to be seen by someone else.
