They accept walk-ins and don’t limit daily donors like other places. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Beforehand, they have you watch videos and read over documents detailing possible reactions and side effects so you know what to look and listen for when you’re in the chair all hooked up. I felt comfortable and well informed going into the chair and not at all concerned. I had reaction during donation, but that was most likely because I didn’t have as big a breakfast as I could’ve had. I’m glad I had gone through all of the literature they gave me before I got in the chair, otherwise I wouldn’t have known and been able to communicate that something wasn’t feeling right with the urgency that I did. Many staff members reacted calmly and quickly to make sure I was ok and stabilized me in no time. Katherine (Kat) stood by my side after I had recovered to monitor my blood pressure and explain the potential reasons I had passed out. She had been extremely friendly and concerned. Even though I nearly passed out, I still had a pleasant and calm experience. I will return when I’m authorized by the doctor so that I can complete my second donation. If you’re coming in for your first time, I recommend asking your phlebotomist to turn the rotation to “low.”
