- AEAnita Ehsani3 days ago1.0Dr. Micheal S. Lucas transformed a first appointment into an appalling display of ignorance and prejudice. I took my 98 year old mother to her first doctor's appointment with this doctor. Upon learning the patients’ country of origin, he resorted to crude, offensive stereotypes about violence and went so far as to suggest a need to “check” for threats—behavior that is as absurd as it is demeaning. This was not a lapse in humor; it was a stark failure of judgment and professionalism. A healthcare provider who cannot distinguish between patient care and discriminatory rhetoric has no business in a clinical setting. Trust, dignity, and basic respect were entirely absent. Upon hearing that I was upset at the treatment of my mother the doctor attempted to say that it was a joke taken out of context, a distasteful one at that. If you value being treated as a human being rather than a target of bias, this is not a practice I would recommend.
