- MBMonica BraunDec 10, 20255.0I was so happy to work with Robert Armstrong at NS&M. Robert was extremely professional and knowledgeable about all the products I required for my new chair. Robert went above and beyond to reach out to my doctor and therapists to make sure that I had the right cushion and back support! Robert also introduced me to the Empulse R90 which has turned out to be a game changer for me! Robert was extremely kind and patient listening to all my concerns and needs. When Robert arrived with the chair, it was perfect. Exactly what I ordered. Exactly what I wanted exactly what I needed the first time!! (Which is extremely unusual). Robert made a few small adjustments for me. And I was good to go. After decades in a chair, this is the first chair that has arrived perfect! And I don’t say that lightly. Robert Armstrong is in my opinion the best ATP I’ve come across in many many years. I am very grateful to have had Robert by my side through this what is often times a very challenging and frustrating process. Many thanks Robert. Jazz sent me to the Visalia,Ca office since we have one hear now. I am a huge fan again! With people from Amanda to the new people i met via the phone. I had my bracket break on my wheelchair. Leaving me stuck in bed. Within 24 hours of my issue, Crystal & Mile have me rolling again. As well as on the path of getting a new wheelchair! Thank you more than you will wver know!!!

Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
