I was at quest yesterday. I got there at 9:30 AM. And then I proceeded to wait for over three hours. I am aware that as a walk-in, I was not given priority as those who had made appointments. However there were people that I spoke to that were behind me on the list that were given priority over me. I am a person with permanent and life-shortening disabilities— I sat there for over three hours. Eventually, I had to bring up enough courage to knock on their door and ask to use the restroom. I say courage because I watched other people knock on the door to ask why things were taking so long—they were greeted with a nurse yelling at them to have a seat and that their name will be called when it is called. I was in the restroom for less than two minutes, and while in the restroom, they apparently took my name off the list. So when I returned to the lobby and took my seat. I noticed my name was no longer on the list. I then had to knock and wait at the door because there is no desk, there is only a front electronic kiosk for you to sign up at, I had to ask about my name. I was not greeted with respect or concern or empathy. Just someone yelling at me to take a seat while I was trying to explain to them how my name had been taken off the list and I was only gone for two minutes and I wasn’t even number one on the list, I was second. The nurse Shouted down the hallway at the other nurses asking if they had called my name. I had been second on the list for over an hour. I was only gone two minutes, the same nurse who took me off the list is the one who showed me to the restroom. I never complained. I sat there for over three hours. I was extremely late to get back to class. I had to fast, and hadn't eaten anything for over 72 hours. All I could have was water, I just needed to use the restroom. I’m not sure if they were discriminating against me for being disabled or my age/ethnicity/sex/ect, But I did not feel that this place is a welcoming environment or operates empathetically. People are in there to have blood drawn—not for fun, but most likely because most of us are suffering from health related illnesses, you’d think they would operate more efficiently and empathetically.

I was so pleased thar I have SCAN Insurance and can use Quest Diagnostics in Ventura for my Lab Tests. Was able to get great service as always even though I didn't have an appointment.

I don't feel that a person with an appointment should walk into the center to read a message that says that anyone with appointments will be served within the next hour. I am a school teacher and made my appointment at 6:40 am BECAUSE Quest didn't have any afternoon appointments for several months that would work with my teaching schedule. If I make an appointment in order to not have to take work off for simple bloodwork, I should not have to wait an hour on you to get me into my appointment. Under no circumstance will this ever be right and this is my reason for my lower rating and what I will tell people when they ask me about whethter or not they should use Quest. As it works out, I did not have to wait an hour but I did have to wait almost 15 minutes after my appointment time and I was 10 minutes early and checked in early so that's almost a half of an hour waiting. Also, the woman who measured my waist actually measured my hips (and I was wearing jeans which are thicker) and when I said something she just kept doing her thing and never remeasured.

Help with signing in and making appointments would be a big upgrade. My suggesting would be to have a receptionist as you walk in. I have witnessed many patients confused and turned away not knowing the process. Less stress on older people especially.

I’ve been to this Quest Diagnostics location on Loma Vista several times for routine lab work, and overall my experiences have been good. When I schedule an appointment, the process is usually efficient. I’m typically called back within about 15 minutes, and the entire visit is around 30 minutes total. The staff has been professional, and the blood draws have always gone smoothly. One thing I’ve learned from my visits is that it really helps to drink plenty of water beforehand, as it makes it easier for them to find a vein. I’ve also found it’s generally better to fast ahead of time, since some tests require it. One time I showed up without fasting because I didn’t realize I was supposed to, and I had to reschedule—so that’s something to double-check in advance. I would strongly recommend making an appointment whenever possible. Walk-ins can be unpredictable. The waiting room can go from nearly empty to very busy in a short amount of time as scheduled patients arrive. One thing to be aware of: they call your name from inside the waiting area, rather than sending a text when it’s your turn. Since they ask for your phone number at check-in, a simple text update could make things easier—especially if someone steps outside briefly. Overall, this has been a reliable location for me when I plan ahead.
