  I have had nothing but wonderful experiences here. I was blown away from just our first visit due to the fact that they have a Lactation Specalist offer assistance during the newborn visit. My newborn saw Dr. Zegarra for a few visits, then followed by Dr. DelaCruz and Dr. Palomaki, and they have all been wonderful. Not only do they have a wonderful "bedside manner," but they have shown to be caring, understanding, kind, and just a joy to have your baby seen by. They are truly people-centered. I have now made the switch for my 3 oldest to see the Peds group at Altura. This is also coming from someone who currently works for a larger FQHC for over 10 years. I am truly amazed at Altura standards!

  Dr Rivera is our pediatrician. He is a great pediatrician and when my children have seen other pediatricians (when Dr Rivera is unavailable) they have all been great and you can tell they genuinely love their jobs. They also have a lactation consultant, Michelle, that I have seen for both of my children. She is amazing and very kind and passionate about her job. She gives you clear and direct information so you can feel confident in breastfeeding your baby. Both my children were born early so weight checks were very critical. Babies naturally lose weight in the first week of birth and Breastfed babies tend to lose a little more (within normal range) while mothers milk comes in but once they gain it back they tend do do so more quickly than formula fed babies. Michelle comes in alongside your pediatrician and makes sure all your breastfeeding concerns are addressed and that you are properly educated on what to do and look out for when it comes to breastfeeding your baby. Mothers need support now more than ever to nurse their babies as we’re seeing with the formula shortage so I hope Altura let’s Michelle and any other lactation consultants they may have know how appreciative they are for them working for their clinics.
