Altura Centers for Health has been providing medical and dental care to the community since 1995. Historically the clinic was formerly owned and operated by Tulare Local Health Care District. It was purchased from Tulare District Hospital (TDH) on July 1998. Altura first became a Federal Qualified Look A-Like Clinic in 1997 and in 2000 became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), and is a deemed federal public health service employee. In addition, the clinic is a 501 (C) 3 Non-profit Organization. Altura is governed by a committed Volunteer Community Board of Directors which meet once a month and serve on several committees. The majority of the Board of Directors are patients of Altura. Hence, it is a clinic governed by its patients as well as community.

- LLLanaNov 6, 20244.0Dr. Wu is my primary. He’s so kool; he is attentive and listens to his patients. He acknowledges your pain. He is genuinely concerned and searches for ways to resolve any issues. I appreciate having him in my corner. Staff is cordial. The only complaint is the coldness at the reception desk. There are no smiles. Their voices hint at boredom. Definitely do not feel welcome here until I’m in the room and Dr. Wu comes in with a smile and friendly acknowledgment. Medical records, once they realize there might be an issue immediately takes care of it. Van transportation is available door to door and I’m very grateful for that. My favorite driver is Tony because he has a great personality and I enjoy shocking him with stories of my travels. He is a safe driver. Maria is also a good driver but she’s so overfully careful she’s gonna burn them brakes out.😂
