  Quick call back to arrange for time to meet and review requirements. Very thorough in ensuring clients and care providers are a good match based on needs of clients. Would highly recommend Home Instead to families for their loved ones during a time of need. It was so good to recover in the comfort of my own home.

  This review is for Home Instead which provides private home care to seniors in Saskatoon. Our family hired Home Instead to provide care for our 82 year old mother who is legally blind. The Home Instead ‘motto’ posted on their website states: "Our home care services can help aging adults stay engaged in everyday life with tailor-made support by professional caregivers to stay safe and well at home. It’s our mission to provide an elder care plan personalized to your family’s needs to bring comfort, connection, and quality of life in the place that they love the most, their home." However, that was not our experience. Home Instead lacks the development of a comprehensive care plan and execution of that care plan which results in inconsistency of care and zero knowledge transfer as staff are rotated. As a result, seniors are being taken advantage of, care is not being provided, safety is being jeopardized and clients and families are frustrated. What we experienced 1. Staff were asked to clean the bathroom - company came over later that day and let my mother know the bathroom was not cleaned 2. Staff were asked to clean the floors- Mother’s sister was over for a visit that evening and reported the floors were in fact, not cleaned (and she cleaned them) 3. Staff were asked to clean the fridge - spills and crumbs were not wiped when I checked after work 4. Staff were asked to put things back a certain because of my mother’s disability - responses like ‘don’t tell me how to do things or I know how to do it’ was the response my mother would get from staff members. 5. Staff were asked to vacuum - I came back from work and furniture was left on top of the spare bed, did you expect my mother to get it down? Carpets were tossed in the laundry room, mom could not find them and the curtains were pulled from the floor and not put back which caused my mother confusion 6. Appointments - mother provided the address and the staff member drover her around for an hour because she wrote it down incorrectly - even as mother asked ‘did you write it down correctly?” multiple times (we pay milage) 7. Care plan - A care plan was not developed. It was 5 bullet points. One of the bullet points was 'anticipate her needs" Home Instead increased min number hours and increased the rates but did nothing for the quality that we pay for. 8. Staff were asked to clean the mirror - they said it had a crack in it so they couldn’t - there is no crack 9. Staff were asked to help cook - had no idea how to measure something, burnt food, overcooked food and mother ended up throwing it out. 10. Staff left dirty pile of rags on the floor in the laundry room. Mother tripped on them and could not figure out what they were. 11. Most important - The frustration was communicated by my mother to the owner and zero actions were taken. She was completely ignored. I would not recommend hiring them for your loved ones.

  This is a wonderful company that has helped keep my mother company when I’m unable to. Their kind and considerate care aides have done everything I’ve asked, and more. So grateful for this wonderful service.
