  I dont want to discourage anyone from getting help and I hate that this review will knock Alta Mira’s star rating down BUT if you are a user of nicotine in any form, be sure to have Alta Mira’s ON-SITE (not admissions) clinical staff approve of your use in writing beforehand. I would have them put it in an email that you can access and be specific about the quantity and how you will be able to access. I use lozenges within the daily recommendations from the manufacturer. Alta Mira honored that for a time but then changed it on me overnight. Instead of receiving a 24-hr supply, I was required to physically visit the nurses station to get a 1-2 hour supply. They would only provide that 1-2 hour supply every 2 hours. The nurses station is frequently closed for breaks and new admissions so they drastically cut my nicotine use overnight while in the midst of trying to quit a much more serious addiction. When I attempted to remedy the situation, I was avoided and treated like a child instead of adult who paid serious cash (equivalent to median personal ANNUAL income of US taxpayers) out of pocket and up front. I made repeated requests verbally and in writing but was ignored. I didn’t pay to be ignored during that period of my life.

  We became engaged at the Alta Mira Hotel in Jan 2002. Seeing it is a Treatment facility now is amazing! In recovery for 28 and 29 years and opened a Substance Use facility in 2007.

  My family member was at Altamira for treatment and was introduced to the irresponsible psychiatrist Dr. Appassani who lacked professionalism, charged for after-care that was not provided & lacked follow-through which created a VERY serious issue for someone in my family. Dr. Appassani should also NOT be working with vulnerable patients from @altamirarecovery. His actions are unconscionable and he should be avoided. He has no integrity! He caused serious danger in his neglect. BEWARE!!
