YOGA MATS HAVE GLASS IN THEM!! THEY DO NOT CLEAN PROPERLY AFTER BREAK INS!!!
If you look at the most recent reviews for this studio, you’ll see complaints of smell, dirty mats, etc. Foolishly, I decided to give this studio a chance as it’s the closest to my apartment. I can personally attest to these complaints, as well as give you something even more horrifying to avoid at this studio.
On a free trial, I borrowed a mat that smelled horrendous. In order to avoid this again, I told myself I would purchase a yoga mat the next time I went. In a crunch, I decided to purchase one of the yoga mats directly from this location. What I didn’t know is that I was being signed up to be absolutely cut up by broken glass that was hiding inside of the mat I recently purchased.
When I unrolled my mat in the class, glass went all over the floor, and micro shards were all in my hand. Luckily, they were all surface level shards although I was bleeding quite heavily and multiple people in the class could attest to this.
The girls who cleaned the mess and provided me with bandaids were very nice, but they still encouraged me to take the class. In retrospect, this was absolutely not the right move for the employees or for myself.
The manager informed me that glass had been shoved into the yoga mat inventory during a break in, and that she just unfortunately missed cleaning the mat I purchased. I think this is a hugely dangerous oversight that has traumatized me from going to this location ever again (obviously).
And while customer experience responds to every bad review on this location, I personally reached out to them asking them to file a report and to either review their cleaning standards or amend their policy so that nobody can get hurt again after any break ins or similar situations. They reached out to me, said they did all of the above requests, and when I asked for a copy of said amendments and reports they said I wasn’t entitled to see them.
Crazy because you’d think that someone who was directly involved and injured on the premises who is only asking for reassurance it won’t happen again to anyone else- not money, not more classes (they couldn’t pay me to go to a Corepower again) would be able to see the break in cleaning policy or the injury report. It honestly all sounds performative to me.
There are other studios in the area who provide similar services who are similar in price, who are MUCH cleaner with higher standards. I’d suggest going to one of those instead of wasting your time with the entire Corepower corporation.
I feel disappointed, unheard, and honestly traumatized from this whole experience. I write this review to warn future prospective students. Save yourself and just go somewhere else, or do classes at home. Bring your own mat, purchased online or at any other reputable retailer. Stay safe. If you see shiny shimmers on your yoga mat, it’s most likely not plastic or glitter. And no I do not have pictures of my bleeding hand to post, because I locked it in a locker due to rumors of theft at these studios as well (go figure). The picture attached is after class, where the girl who took the mat full of glass shards just threw it off to the side of the lockers.

I took Lauren M’s Friday 2:30 class and it was seriously one of the best classes I’ve ever been too! She made great use of our hour and had a great flow that was challenging, but fun. Her music and energy was great, I highly suggest taking her class!

Thought I signed up for a Sculpt class, didn’t know it was Scupt+Chemical warfare training since the mat I rented smelled so awfully bad. Like straight rotting fish. Too bad I forgot my gas mask at home
I actually wanted to throw up. Definitely top 3 worst smells I’ve ever experienced in my entire life. Was seriously contemplating getting up and buying a brand new mat right then and there.
My therapist will be hearing about this!

Great teachers and class but the studio is in serious need of a deep clean. Probably one of the grossest corepower studios I’ve been to in SF. The body / sweat odor in the hot yoga studios hits you the moment you enter and the mat rentals / weights are not clean at all. Such a shame since it’s such a spacious studio and the teachers have great energy

I arrived a couple minutes late and they said they gave my spot to other people and that they can't help with a refund and to contact classpass. After running from work, taking care of my dog, and literally spending a ton of money to uber there to meet my friend at class and end up a couple minutes late due to traffic out of my control only to be met with someone saying they can't let me in is insanity. No other corepower or fitness studio has done this in SF nor have they told me they can't even refund my credits. I understand not wanting ppl to run in while in cat/cow pose but I don't understand the rudeness. Would not go to this location ever.
