I needed to find a lab that was in-network with my insurance and Quest Diagnostics was the one option that came up. Depending on the location in San Diego, appointments were booked out half a week to a week or more. I scheduled an appointment at the Hillcrest location because they had the soonest available appointment. The parking garage was easy to find. With my appointment, I was in and out in 10 minutes. The staff member who drew my blood was polite and professional. I asked and she said they average 100 patients per day at the Hillcrest location.
Pros:
1) You can schedule an appointment or walk-in
2) You can get your results online after creating an account
3) You can bring in a copy of your lab order to your appointment
4) Parking is easy to find and located in the same building
5) In my experience, the appointment was very quick
Cons:
1) The parking lot, medical building where the lab is located, and the Quest lab itself are all very busy
2) Parking is $4 (even for 20 minutes)
3) Walk-in not recommended due to volume of patients

If you can get your work done elsewhere, I'd recommend it.
They have a tiny and busy waiting room with a bunch of confused patients and no actual receptionist or anyone to talk to. The only interaction patients have until their blood draw is with a check-in kiosk/machine.
Quest says to show up 10 min early for your appointment to discuss any questions or insurance, but then they actually don't have that capacity. All they can do on-site is verify your insurance card, again, even if you did that when making an appointment. They only do the blood draws here. There is nobody you can talk with regarding billing codes or verification of benefits. To discuss insurance they direct you to their phone line, which is full of wasteful pre-recorded messages & it is almost impossible to reach a real person.
Whole thing was a bummer. Going to avoid this business.
I had 2 visits for Function Health draws. Both went very well. Before I could even check in at the kiosk, I asked one of the techs for the restroom code. Instead, she let me use their restroom inside. I wasn't sure if I had a urinalysis that morning, so she had me provide a sample just in case so I wouldn't have to wait later. At each visit I was called in at or before my appointment time, the phlebotomists were professional, polite, and skilled (barely felt a thing). The waiting room is also not packed and the music is pleasant.
My doctor sent me for a complete bloodwork. The young technician did great, hitting my vein on the first try. It was so painless! That is why I love coming here for the last 7 years. In and out in a flash and treated with respect. Thanks Quest.

Horrible lab and long long wait time!
